With Billie and Ben with their grandma, Harrison and Carrie went on a date. They called it a date but it was just the two of them going to get ice cream and taking Leia to the beach.
"Are you coming!?" Carrie shouted to him as she dangled the mustang's keys around her finger.
"Yes!" He shouted back from upstairs. "I have to finish shaving real quick!"
She rolled her eyes, opening the door for Leia who ran into the garage. Carrie followed, grabbing a tennis ball and following her outside. Once Leia saw the ball, she started running for it before Carrie even threw it. She was able to catch it before it hit the ground.
"You're something else."
Leia dropped the ball into Carrie's hand. This time, she put more on the throw, sending it way over Leia's head. Poor Leia tripped and wiped out just as she was about to snag the ball. A few seconds later, a dirty Leia and the tennis ball made their way back to Carrie.
"You're not getting in my car looking like that," she told Leia, upon seeing the mud caked to her legs.
Leia followed her into the garage where Carrie wiped her off with a damp towel. "Not a dirty dog anymore huh?"
As Carrie went to stand up, Leia licked her hand and demanded she be pet. After petting her, she and Leia made their way to Big Red. It'd been a while since she or Harrison took the mustang for a ride. Since it was a nice night, she and Harrison decided to take it for a ride.
Leia jumped right into the backseat, looking around for a window where she could stick her head out. But the mustang was a two door car, meaning Leia wouldn't get a window in the backseat.
"Sorry Leia," Carrie said, upon seeing Leia jump from the backseat to the passenger seat as she got in the car.
She started the car and pulled it out of the garage as she waited for Harrison. He said he wanted to drive, but since he was taking forever to shave, she was driving.
Two minutes later he came out. "What's this?" He wondered upon discovering her in the drivers seat.
"You took too long. The sun's gonna go down before we even get there."
Harrison settled for taking the passenger side. "Can I at least drive home?"
"We'll see."
Poor Leia was not having a fun time in the backseat. She wanted to be able to stick her head out the window and let her tongue blow back and hit her in the face. Leia whimpered in the back. Eventually Carrie rolled her window all the way down so Leia could get some air.
Once they stopped to get ice cream, Leia jumped back in the front seat after Harrison went to go get the ice cream. When he came back, she was rewarded with a small bowl of vanilla. Harrison put one of the towels down on the backseat for her to eat. Soon she was lapping up the ice cream, not even bothered by the fact she couldn't stick her head out the window.
"Shit."
"What?" Harrison asked, looking over to see if Carrie had dropped her cone.
"I did not think this through at all."
"What?" He asked once again.
"How am I supposed to drive?" She asked. "I need two hands."
"I'll shift for you."
Carrie didn't seem to hear him. "Or I could just drive with my knee."
"Carrie, you drive, I'll shift."
"Okay."
It was very odd for her to be driving a standard, but not actually shifting it. As she drove, she told Harrison when to shift to the next gear.
"Shift." He did as told, moving the shifter through the gearbox exactly when she told him to, so the shift and the clutch were perfectly in sync.
Once Carrie finished her ice cream cone, she gave him a fist bump. "Nice job."
"Teamwork."
"We make a pretty good team."
"We sure as hell do sweetheart."

A little bit later they got to the beach. Leia was out of the car as soon as Carrie opened her door. "Someone's excited."
This was the first time they'd taken Leia to the beach since they'd gotten her. But Leia looked pretty excited. She was already running around sniffing the tan, coarse and rough sand. As Harrison and Carrie got the towels ready for when they were done, Leia had wandered off and was already making friends with a family sitting by the water.
"Leia!"
She came running back over. "Good girl."
Leia waited patiently for Carrie and Harrison. Once they were ready, she walked by Harrison's side, every so often stopping to check out the sand.
As they kept walking, eventually they made it through the crowd of people and to a place Leia could fetch a stick without taking out someone's kid. She came running back over with a large stick clamped in between her teeth.
She dropped it in front of Harrison's feet. He let go of Carrie's hand for just a second to throw the stick quite a ways into the water. "Leia go get it!"
As soon as her feet touched the water, Leia turned around and came back. "Where's the stick? Go get it!"
This time she bound into the water. When her body hit the water with a splash, she lost her momentum. The water was now over her head. "Leia go get your stick!"
She swam out to get the stick. "Good girl Leia!"
During the entire walk, Harrison and Carrie constantly threw the stick for Leia who loved to swim out into the water and retrieve it. When she dropped the stick and walked after them, they knew she was tired.
"Who's a good girl?"
Leia ran around to Carrie's right side to be pet. She pet Leia with her right hand, the hand that wasn't holding Harrison's. "Yes, you're a good girl Leia." She must've had some energy left since she ran ahead and explored more terrain, leaving Carrie to walk with Harrison.
"Harry?" She asked, looking behind her to see they'd walked quite far from the car.
"Yeah?"
"You want to give me a piggy back ride?"
Harrison smiled. "Come on. But you owe me."
"Fine." Carrie jumped up on his back, and after calling Leia, they made their way back to the car.
