{July 2034}
Adam decided to take a year off of football. With it being the middle of September, he wanted to make sure he was around when Joanne had their baby. After talking it over with his dad, he would wait to begin his NFL career until next season. So for now the first year of his contract started next season as well as his payment.
Joanne was also a week overdue. Earlier today, she and Adam went for her induction. She should be having the baby anytime now. It drove Carrie crazy not to hear anything from her son or his fiancée. But that's how her mom felt when she and Harrison had their four kids.
It was the middle of the night and Carrie was now watching something else on Netflix while constantly checking her phone. "Carrie," her husband muttered from next to her.
She checked her phone once again before turning to face him. Harrison was laying on his stomach, with his head turned to the side against the pillow. When she turned, he placed a hand on her cheek before stretching out.
"Carrie, its late. You need to go to bed."
Carrie flipped right over when she heard her phone go off. But the excitement was put to rest when it was a Facebook notification.
"I need to know."
Harrison sighed, turning to his side and propping his head up with his hand. "I want to know too, but there's really nothing we can do right now but wait."
"We could go there."
"It's the middle of the night," he protested.
"But Billie can watch Ben. And when they have the baby she can bring Ben to the hospital." This past May, Billie had gotten her drivers license. Harrison and Carrie got her car as well, just like they did for Adam and Emma.
Harrison buried his face in the pillow as she rambled on about wanting to know. "I just can't stand not knowing what's going on."
"It's probably nothing. Adam will let us know when he or she comes."
Adam and Joanne had also waited to find out the gender of their baby. That made Carrie even more anxious to find out. Anxious Carrie had also packed two boxes full of clothes for a girl or a boy, or even both. That box was sitting in the kitchen, waiting for the time when they would make the trip to the hospital.
Carrie's phone went off again. While turning over to grab it, she accidentally kicked Harrison in the worst possible spot. "Carrie!" He muttered, flipping back onto his stomach in case she kicked again.
There was a thud as she threw her phone back on the nightstand with a sigh. "Still wasn't him," she complained.
Harrison groaned into his pillow. "What's wrong with you?" She was just about to ask but then realized where she'd kicked him. "Sorry."
"It's fine."
Then she went back to her rambling. "When the hell will he call us? He or she doesn't even have to be born yet. I just want an update."
He understood how his wife felt. "Carrie?"
"Yeah?"
"You look a lot like me when you were pregnant with Ben. Remember I had a game and you went into labor the next day?" He paused while she nodded. "The entire game I would constantly look up to where you were sitting to make sure you or the kids were there. I was so worried that I'd miss something."
She ran her fingers through his hair. "Pregnant me was there the entire time."
Harrison thought back to Ben's birth. It would be 12 years ago in October. All the kids were growing up so much. Adam was out of college, about to be a father. Emma was in her sophomore year of college. Billie was starting her junior year of high school. Ben was now in 7th grade.
He closed his eyes, but was woken not ten minutes later by Carrie's phone ringing. She flipped over to grab it. Harrison heard a squeal, meaning it was Adam.
"Adam!?"
Harrison could hear his son say clearly through the phone, "the baby's coming!"
"Your dad and I will be right there!"
Jumping out of bed and nearly kicking him again, Carrie pulled at his hand. "Come on, let's go!"

A half hour later, Harrison and Carrie stood in the waiting room, for Adam and Joanne to be ready for visitors. One of the doctors had told them that the delivery went perfectly and they should be seeing their grandson or granddaughter in a few moments.
"Mom and dad," they heard from down the hallway.
Carrie beat Harrison to hug Adam. "I want to see the little one."
"Well let's go."
Adam let his parents into a room where Joanne lay holding their baby in her arms. He handed the baby to Carrie who stood in front of Harrison. When he handed over the baby, Carrie realized it was a girl. A baby girl.
"She's perfect," Carrie whispered, now unable to hold back the tears. Her granddaughter had light brown hair, a mixture of Joanne's blond and Adam's very dark brown. She also had brown eyes like both her mom and dad.
Carrie handed her to Harrison who asked, "what's her name?"
"Madison Alyssa."
"That's perfect."
He held for a few moments longer before handing her to Carrie and going out into the hallway to grab the box of girls clothes. "Thanks mom and dad."
"You're welcome Adam."
A little bit later, Emma, Billie and Ben showed up. Adam who held Madison, told her, "Maddie, its time to meet your aunts and uncles."
