19. "it's good to be home"

LAST DAY ON SET

"And that's a wrap, guys. I'm so proud of all of you. We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you," Joe said, smiling at his cast and crew.

"I say we need a round of applause for our amazing directors," Courtney said loudly, cheering for the Russo brothers. As the cast and crew dispersed, Joe and Anthony pulled Courtney to the side.

"Thanks for everything, Court. You really made this a great film," Anthony said politely.

"You guys are too sweet," Courtney sighed, shaking her head.

"It was the chemistry between you and Chris that really just pushed this movie over the edge. It was fantastic," Joe agreed. Courtney sighed loudly.

"And uh-- that's what we wanted to talk to you about. Chris drunk dialed us the other night, thinking it was his brother. Before we had the chance to tell him, he kind of admitted that he's in love with you. I hate to divulge Chris's secrets, but I thought you deserved to know. I see how you guys look at each other. It's gonna happen. You guys just need some of us to nudge you in the right direction," Anthony said, smiling gently at her. Courtney dropped her head, laughing softly.

"What's so funny?" Chris asked, walking up to the three of them.

"Nothing," Joe said quickly, shifting awkwardly. Chris squinted his eyes, trying to read him, but just shrugged it off.

"Hey, Court, can I talk to you?" Chris asked. They smiled and waved to the directors before walking off to a more private area of the set.

"What's on your mind?" Courtney asked, trying to keep her whole body from trembling.

"I-- nevermind. God, uh, forget this happened. I'll call you. Are you going to Boston or are you going to LA?" Chris asked.

"Oh, uh. I'm probably going to LA for a while. I'm gonna shoot for Victoria's Secret a little and then go on the press tour," Courtney sighed.

"Oh-- I was kind of hoping you were coming back to Boston," Chris sighed, the disappointment in his voice completely obvious.

"Why?" Courtney asked quickly.

"Just forget about it. Call me when you get to LA. I want to make sure you get there okay," Chris sighed, smiling quickly and walking off the set. He just left her standing there in confused shock, wondering what had just happened.

AT THE AIRPORT

"Welcome home, kiddo," John said as he got out of the car, pulling her into a hug.

"It's good to be home," Courtney sighed happily.

"I brought a surprise," John said teasingly, knocking on the car window. Chrissy jumped out of the car carrying a pizza box.
