Chapter Twenty

Birthday

"... Lailah are you awake?" Colette's voice woke me from my deep sleep

I groaned covering my face with the blanket, I was not ready to get up

"Come on, it's half ten" Colette pulled at my sheets and I groaned even louder

Colette then pulled even harder and I lost grip of the sheets.

"F*ck it's freezing Colette!" I complained sitting up in bed and grabbing for the blanket

"Nu-uh Lailah" Colette said holding it firmly

I sighed crossing my legs and leaning my head back against the wall "Pleeease Colette"

She gave in, getting in next to me and covered us with the blanket, I was to tired to complain

"Where we're you last night?"Colette asked me

I glanced at her and shrugged "around"

"Around where?" She questioned

"in the woods" I said "walking"

"Walking?" Colette asked

I nodded and it wasn't a complete lie either. Before she could ask anymore questions I asked her about how her grandparents were doing and she soon forgot.

"... Yeah it was really awkward when my grandma asked if William was my boyfriend" Colette blushed

Ah screw Anthony's stupid bet I want to know...

"And is he?" I asked

"What?!" Colette squirmed turning even redder "of course not! Why would you think that?"

"I don't know" I shrugged " your just awfully close and now you take him on a trip to meet your grandparents ..."

"Hey that's not fair" Colette frowned "I asked you to come along too, as well as Anthony and Davie, William was the only one who said yes"

"Well that's not fair either, I just said no because I thought you wanted a little alone time with William"

"Alone time including my grandparents?"She rolled her eyes laughing and I joined her

"Anyway you should get up, today's a special day" Colette beamed

"Whys it special?" I yawned pushing the sheets of me as I attempted to get up but stumbled ungracefully instead

"I can't believe you've forgotten"She giggled reaching for her phone

"Forgotten what?" I asked cluelessly

Colette handed me her phone with her calendar pulled up. My eyes soon landed on today's date and a silent giggle left my lips. I had no idea how I had forgotten but somehow it had slipped my mind

Today was my birthday

"Happy birthday to YOU, happy birthday to YOU, happy birthday to LAILAH-"

I whipped round to Anthony and covered my hand over his mouth "Seriously Anthony if you keep singing that I swear-" he then licked my hand "Ew ew ew" I squealed pulling away

Anthony bellowed over in laughter

I gave him a murderous look before jumping on his back and trying to wipe my hand on his face

"Guys c,mon calm it" William said although he was smiling himself "there going to think we're a right bunch of loons"

We were all waiting outside of the office to talk to the school's student services about possibly maybe getting permission to leave to go out to town ... I really doubted there going to let us though

A head then popped round the door and looked me and Anthony up and down with a disapproving glare "You can come in now"

And guess what I was right! I usually like being right but I admit spending my birthday in this school kind of really sucks.

We were walking back inside are high spirits crushed when my eyes gazed over the woods. Hm well there's an idea ...

A mischievous smile crossed over my face and it didn't go unnoticed

"What you smiling like that for?"Davie asked suspiciously

I shrugged "let's just say I may know another way out"
