Set an Example

**Nathaniel's POV**

It was hard to suppress the smile on my face as I reached my mother but I had to or she would suspect something and the last thing I wanted was for her to touch my Fragile little Human mate. The fact she was human made me anxious, she's so vulnerable in a school full of Vampires, the sooner I change her the better.

"Where have you been?" Mother asked as her hungry eyes followed the Teenage humans.

I glanced at her without emotion "Nowhere"

Mother sighed deeply about to say something when Abigail appeared grinning ear to ear

"We should come to Balls more often!" My sister giggled like a human teenager and not the four-hundred-and-Ten year old Vampire she is

My mother was not impressed by her informal manner that slips every time she has 'fun' of course 'fun' was not something mother ever approved of "Abigail we are not here to act like humans, now where is your father?"

Abigail rolled her eyes at Mother (something only she would get away with) and grudgingly spoke "He left as soon as the music started"

None of us were surprised, my father never stays for anything where he has to stay by Mothers side. Let's just say after four hundred years there marriage isn't what it used to be.

"Well then we'll just have to do this alone" Mother said

My eyes narrowed on her "Do what?"

"What do you think Nathaniel?" Mother scolded "just look at this place, look at this Vampire school it's basically a playground, where is the fear in the students eyes-"

I looked around the busy Ballroom watching as humans danced together, laughing and chatting, having 'fun'

"They used to fear us Nathaniel, we used to make there blood run cold and the heart pound erratically at just the sight of us, and now look at them!" Mother turned her nose up in disgust "And I'm told it's the same in every other Vampire Academy, these humans need to be taught that we are not there friends. We need to set an example"

"So what are you saying exactly?" Abigail asked folding her arms

"I'm not sure yet" Mother admitted but then turned to me and Abigail with a cold smile "But I think I have a way you too can help me"
