Chapter Twenty-Six
Marked
**Flashback**
"Grandad!" I yelled dropping my school bag at the foot of the stairs before hurtling myself up to his office.
"Remember to knock first Lailah!" My mother called up from behind me as I reached grandad's door.
"Of course mother!" I called back watching from the top of the banister as she walked into the kitchen
I purposely forgot to knock letting myself in with as quiet of a sound the old rusty door could manage. Peeping round the corner I spotted grandad lying in his desk chair gently snoring to himself.
I suppressed a giggle creeping up to his side about to wake him up when my eyes landed on the book that lay open in his hands. It was a huge leather back book with the font written in red cursive writing.
Leaning forward over grandad's chair I read the subtitle at the top of the page 'Soulmate's' . I frowned thinking grandad must be reading another one of his fairy story's again, all grandad ever read was fairy story's.
Reaching over I pulled the heavy book out of grandad's lap and into my hands instead, all I ever read, like grandad was fairy story's.
I sat myself on the floor behind grandad's chair and opened up on the page grandad had been on before he had obviously fallen asleep.
My hand danced over the page for a second wondering if grandad would get angry with me if I read the book. He always gets angry when I read his fairy story's.
My curiosity got the better of me and I started reading;
Soulmate's
Our definition:
a person ideally suited to another as a close romantic partner. We all know Soulmate's are a myth, we may joke that our wife's and husbands are our 'Soulmate's' or our 'One true love' but deep down we all know that's simply not true. Love will not 'conquer all', love is simply a commitment bounding two people by marriage forbidding there partner to love anyone but them and yes I admit sometimes it works, if you find a pure and truthful enough partner, love will prevail. But if you fail, settling for an untruthful and cynical marriage love will crash and burn no matter whether if you believed you were Soulmate's or not.
Now this is all stating the obvious and now your probably wondering why I bothered adding such a fairy tale myth into what is supposed to be a factual book.
But this book is not about humans, but the biggest 'myth' of them all; Vampires, and the same rules simply do not apply.
Now don't get me wrong, most 'ordinary' Vampires are the same and probably have it worse of than us, just imagine having to stay truthful in love for eternity. But as we know not only 'ordinary' Vampires walk this earth.
Here we come back to the biggest myth of them all. Royal Vampires. A myth that is sadly true and one day will be the ending of us all but let's not touch on dark subjects just yet.
Not all Royals would normally ever be lucky enough to ever receive such a big gift as a soulmate. Only if the vampire itself is failing at his 'purpose' does the devil himself place down a innocent child with the task of raining in a monster. The moral system is obviously very messed up but alas we can only pray for the human having the monstrous task of taming a Vampire.
Symptoms of Soulmate's
1. Fist things first Vampires will mostly just know they are Soulmate's, well at least before the human knows anyway
