"Tell me why we're doing this again?"

"It's camping, Sherlock. It's fun!"

"It's sleeping in the cold, mosquito-ridden woods."

Molly rolled her eyes, "it's all part of the experience, Sherlock," she explained, "besides, you can sleep in the truck if you want." Sherlock huffed in annoyance. Molly grinned and looked out the window, resting her chin on her hand, "that is, if you want to be a wimp," she muttered under her breath. Sherlock's gaze whipped towards Molly, his eyes narrowed.

"What was that?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Molly's grinned widened.

"Nothing! Keep your eyes on the road, you're going to kill us!" Muttering under his breath, Sherlock readjusted his grip on the wheel and watched the road in front of him. Molly giggled at his sour mood and sunk into her seat, pulling her coat tighter over her. She watched as houses in the landscape gradually gave out to green, rolling hills. Molly smiled and sighed, her eyes closing as she thought about the trip. Even Sherlock's complaining couldn't put her out of her mood about this trip, not when she'd been planning the trip for over a month now. Slowly, Molly drifted away to sleep, the constant humming of the truck Molly had rented specifically for the trip lulling her.

Molly was jolted to consciousness when the paved road beneath them suddenly gave out to a bumpy dirt road. "Whoa." She said, immediately bracing herself. Sherlock grinned.

"Wow. You take pleasure in my pain. Good to know," Molly mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest as she blinked sleep out of her eye. Sherlock laughed airily.

"No," he said with a smile, "you're just cute when you're surprised." Molly blinked in momentary surprise before turning her head to the window to hide her soft smile.

It wasn't long before the green hills gave out to dense trees and woodlands and Molly smiled brightly.

"We're almost here!" She said with a toothy grin. Sherlock smiled too, Molly's excitement contagious. Sure enough, the bumpy dirt road soon became even more rough and untraveled, roots sticking up from the ground in the road. Sherlock blinked and worked to steady the truck but Molly smiled.

"I can't believe I'm here again," she said with a dreamy sigh. Sherlock's brows were furrowed in concentration as he slowed the car down and cautiously worked over every uneven bump. Though Molly took no mind, instead watching the leafy rooftop above them.

"I used to come down here with my friends all the time," Molly rambled, "we'd go fishing and then throw each other in the lake. Sometimes there was a paddle board and we played king of the board. And at night we'd light the bonfire and just talk and laugh." She sighed and rested her cheek on her hand. Sherlock watched Molly curiously, an eyebrow raised. Suddenly the car lurched forward with a jolt and Molly let out a small yelp.

"Sorry," Sherlock mumbled as he quickly steadied the car. Molly rolled her eyes but laughed. Sherlock narrowed his eyes in concentration as he dutifully watched the road in front of them. Molly smiled, following his gaze. Suddenly she let out a gasp and shrieked.

"There! There! Turn there! Turn!" She yelled, pointing frantically to a small, off road trail.

"Alright alright," Sherlock mumbled as he turned onto the trail. Molly laughed giddily as they came to a small clearing and a large lake. There was a small, unlit bonfire set up, presumably from past times Molly had gone, and tire tracks were worn into the dirt. Before the car had even parked Molly was out, laughing excitedly as she took in the view before her.

Sherlock stepped outside beside her, both of them watching the lake silently. The scene really was breathtaking. The sun was just beginning to set, sending streaks of orange across the sky that danced on the surface of the lake. The trees ruffled slightly in the light breeze and the sky was smudged with small clouds.

Molly let out a soft sigh and leaned on Sherlock, resting her head on his shoulder. Sherlock smiled wrapped his hand around Molly's waist.

"It is a nice view," he said with a small smile. Molly laughed and leaned closer into him.

"It's so beautiful," she sighed, shaking her head slowly. Sherlock's gaze flicked to Molly, studying her face carefully.

"Yeah," he agreed with a nod, "beautiful." Sherlock wasn't looking at the lake. Molly then smiled ear to ear, turning to Sherlock.

"Well, c'mon," she said, putting her hands on her hips, "let's get started." Sherlock nodded and laughed. Together they began to unload the back of the truck, Sherlock casting glances at Molly as she worked, his gaze soft.

"You know," Sherlock said when he and Molly were done unloading, "I'm just now realizing that I hardly know anything about your past life." They sat in the back of the truck, staring at the indigo-turned sky littered with stars. Molly let out a sharp laugh.

"What's there to know," she said with a shrug, "I had a normal life. Then I moved here and I met you. Then my life was most certainly not normal." Sherlock laughed.

"Guilty as charged," he said with a smirk. Molly rolled her eyes but smiled. They fell into a comfortable silence, watching the stars with quiet ease.

"Hey," Sherlock whispered, nudging Molly and pointing to the sky, "there is the Big Dipper." Molly followed his point and nodded.

"I thought you didn't know anything about space," Molly said with a snort. Sherlock grinned.

"Didn't need to know anything about space," Molly rolled her eyes, "after my case with the Van Buren Supernova I... touched up," Sherlock said with a shrug. Molly smirked.

"Thank you for coming out here with me," she said softly. Sherlock peered at her curiously, his gaze inquisitive. Molly continued, "I know you don't tend to like this kind of stuff."

Sherlock tilted his chin up, considering this. "No," he said eventually, "but I like you." Molly's gaze flashed towards him and a smile crept on her lips.

"Well good," she said with a slow nod, clearing her throat and shyly looking towards the stars, "the feeling's mutual." Sherlock let out a sharp laugh, staring at Molly. She cautiously turned her head to meet Sherlock's eyes. They locked gazes, the only witness the clusters of stars that bore on them from their place in the sky.

Sherlock grinned softly, leaning in closer to Molly. Her gaze bore into his and she felt her heartbeat speed up. Sherlock smiled and kissed Molly, his hand on the back of her neck, pulling her closer. Molly ignored the rapid thumping in her chest and leaned closer into him, Sherlock's warmth hypnotizing. Sherlock's smile was gone when he pulled back, instead the emotion clouding his eyes. He rested his forehead on Molly's, closing his eyes.

"I love you," Molly whispered. A smile tugged at the corner of Sherlock's lip and he pressed closer into Molly.

"I love you too, my star," he whispered. "I love you too."
