Kerri Sanchez has a crush on her best friend's father, Mr. Leto, and soon learns he's quite interested in her as well. Her instincts lead...
This chapter was inspired by the song "Troublemaker" by Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida. The lyrics really fit from Mr. Leto and Kerri's perspective! Feel free to listen as you read!
We didn't have any special plans for the day after Homecoming. We were partied out after last night – or at lease I knew I was exhausted. We stared blankly at the TV as we caught up with a re-run of America's Next Top Model.
"Hey girls?" Mr. Leto called from around the corner. His footsteps tramped against the wooden floor as he approached the living room. He froze in place upon entering, "Well, you ladies look completely bummed! A little too much fun last night, huh?" he jested. We laughed softly as we nodded in agreement like a row of bobble heads.
"Well, I can't have you looking pooped when your parents come on a gorgeous Sunday morning. How about I take you all to Starbucks? My treat!
The energy in the room dramatically shifted as we jumped up in excitement in cheers and merriment. Starbucks was our lives.
We were in the car and ready in less than five minutes, which I must admit, was a first for me. That had to be the quickest I ever change to get ready. We all even beat him to the car. I tapped the side of the car door as we waited.
Mr. Leto rushed to the car in haste. His charcoal scarf hung off him perfectly as it blew against his patched jean jacked in the breeze.

We were pumped! Soft sounds of pop music hummed in the background as we headed to Starbucks. Mr. Leto even managed to keep his attention on the road, which eased me a bit, but in a way, I kind of wanted him to just glance at me once. Maybe I'm being too selfish, I mean, I had his attention all last night for heaven's sake.
After we ordered our drinks, we gathered around the waiting area. Allegra, Dasha and Sydney's drinks were all the same: caramel mocha frappe. They got their drinks practically simultaneously and decided to sit down and find a table among the almost packed store. I got my favorite, a java chip frappe and Mr. Leto got a vanilla latte, so we both waited until our drinks were done. Our drinks were taking longer. It was almost too perfect.
I could feel him staring at me.
"So Kerri, your hand feeling any better?"
I nodded. "A little bit, " I replied looking down at the bandage he had placed on my hand earlier.
"I know what you did with frame."
The air grew cold.
"Huh?" I asked bewildered.
"I said I know this treat should relieve your pain." He smiled at me, inching closer.
"Oh..." I exhaled as my eyes widened in disbelief at his words. Thank God. That was so close. I retreated back into my safe bubble of reality.
