"You two certainly took your time." Shiro said, as he watched Pidge, Lance and Keith enter his office. Hunk had already arrived, his black hair combed in place (although it still looked a bit of a mess). Lance spun a chair around and sat on it, his hands dangling over the back of the chair with his legs going the opposite way to what they should be. Keith walked over to the window, and placed his left foot onto the wall underneath it, hands still in his torn, denim jeans. He looked out of the window before turning to stare at the stern look on Shiro's face.
Pidge simply sat down onto a chair, like how a normal person would.
"Now that we are all here, let me begin." Shiro started, as he rearranged some papers in front of him. "We have a new case, and I've already informed the rest of the building and the police force, that this case, is important. Very important."
He looked at everyone individually, before carrying on; "Today, a murder was reported just around Big Ben. Local police went to visit, but it turns out, it's a lot more gruesome than that of a normal stab or gunshot wound to the heart."Shiro turned his laptop around to show an image of a man. The man had trousers on, but no shirt or shoes and was strung up to a lamp post. There was a large incision across his torso and a few smaller knife marks around his sides. Blood looked as though most of it had dried up, suggesting that this murder had taken place possibly last night or early this morning. His face was bloody and beaten, which made Pidge gag. However, that was most certainly not the worst part. He didn't have any eyes. Just black sockets showing where they used to be. Lance and Pidge looked pale to the core, whereas Keith and Hunk looked as though they see this sort of thing quite a lot.
"Not too pretty is it?! His name is Jonathon Parks." Shiro said after a while, turning his laptop to face him once more.
"What do we need to do?" Keith asked.
"Well firstly, we'll be receiving the body later today, so then Hunk can do the autopsy. Hopefully, without throwing up this time." Shiro tells Keith, but aiming it at Hunk slightly.
Hunk had only finished his pathologist course 4 months ago, and hadn't dealt with a lot of extremely gory crimes yet. He'd only ever seen awful photos. Furthermore, the fact that he had to check the contents of this brutally-murdered-dead guy's organs, made him quite nauseous.
"Then Hunk can give us an idea on what was used to remove the eyes, run Jonathan's fingers through the database, to see if he'd been involved in anything-illegal-and possibly even draw up a list of potential suspects. Then Pidge will pull back CCTV footage of what happened around that area, so we can find a time of death. Do not approach this murderer, okay. You will notify SO19 or MPS and myself, that you have found them. But you will not, I repeat - not - be able to approach this killer." Shiro informs them, sternly. All of them nod their heads. They can't argue. Not with their Chief. The team all walked out of the office and waited outside, to think. As they waited for the body to arrive.Keith thought about Shiro's words "I repeat - not - be able to approach this killer." There was something Shiro wasn't telling them. Not having all of the information made Keith slightly annoyed and frustrated. His bluey-grey eyes shone with confusion but also a dangerous slither of curiosity. He had to find out what was going on, why this case was so important and why they were not even allowed to touch this killer.
Lance puzzled over why he wasn't allowed to give that murderer the beating he deserved. Why was this case important? What is so important? Why aren't we allowed to approach the killer? Even for a chat? A million questions swam like a current, around his head.
Pidge thought about the image of the body, making her paler and paler. She closed her eyes, and exhaled. How on earth can someone do such a thing? Who in humanity found joy in wrenching some guy's eyes out? Or even killing him in the first place? The thought of someone doing something like this, made Pidge grow angrier with every passing second.
Hunk's sunny eyes had clouds passing over them, as he thought of having to open up this man's body, even when it looked as though it had already been slit open. His stomach twisted. He loved fixing cars, baking and talking. Why didn't he just pick a calmer, less disgusting occupation? Was that really so hard? He always saw autopsies being performed by pathologists in Murder Mystery shows and he always thought of how fascinating it would be to see inside a real human body, but now that he was experiencing it all, he thought about how the TV shows made everything seem more exciting and interesting. Seeing it in real life, made him nervous, although he had already done an autopsy on a couple other bodies. Yet, seeing more didn't make it any easier. Especially one as gruesome as this one.
Shiro looked out of his window and stared at this, normally, joyful team standing outside his office, wallowing in their own thoughts. He knew that throwing a murder like this onto Hunk, Pidge and Lance wasn't right, but Keith. Keith looked as though he'd been through something like this before. He didn't shudder or flinch. That kid must've gone through some tough times not to feel pretty much anything towards this dead man. Shiro sighed as he looked at Lance, Pidge, Hunk and Keith individually, and thought of what he was putting them through. However this needed to be done. Lance and Keith needed to find out information or this killer would kill again.
Shiro walked out of his office and confronted Keith and Lance.
"I need you two, to go to a party" at the word 'party' Lance's dark, sky eyes lightened up. "I'll need you to receive some information. From a lady called Kimberly Corté. She is very persuasive, seductive and smarter than you will think, so be aware; anything could happen. The body will be arriving soon, but we'll wait for you two to finish this task." Shiro told them.
"Is she pretty?" Lance asked, his eyes fluttering. Shiro hesitated.
"I can't really judge. She might be your type Lance." Shiro smiled. Keith and Lance looked at each other before nodding their heads. Shiro handed them a file each on Kimberly Corté. "Good luck" Shiro said just as the two were about to walk through the doors.
"A party! I can't wait!" Lance jumped. Keith looked at him, before staring off into space as they entered the elevator.A party... what fun?!
