Just in case you were curious about what the characters look like, I included pictures. These are just how I visualize them.

Proceed after that super (😉) long intro

Nyssa's pov

"I don't know why these bastards always have to take hostages. Or even try to commit crimes anymore. They know we're going to win," I say to Xander as we jog through the halls. He says the room in the picture I showed him used to be his dad's office, back before his new office was finished being renovated. We are currently running there now. I'm not speeding us both there because A) Xander doesn't trust himself to not throw up after speeding and B) because it has been years and years since he was here and wouldn't be able to give me directions if we were zipping through the halls.

The two of us had also decided to stick together instead of splitting up to divide and conquer because Xander is still new at this and he doesn't want to accidentally mess up and get someone killed. I promised him that wouldn't happen, but he isn't hearing it.

"There! Through those doors and take a left!" He instructs. We follow the directions almost in perfect sync. A moment later we arrive in the office. I'll confess, I am a little upset when the bad guys don't look scared. But the five hostages sure do.

"Viper? I wasn't aware that you are working with Storm," the leader states, sounding bored. Another one checks his phone, not even paying attention to us. What on earth is going on?

I glance over at the hostages and immediately spot Ashton. I notice that Xander is looking over at his mum. The leader notices us staring.

"Oh yeah. You can have them back once we get our money," he shrugs, glancing at the hostages as well.

"You aren't going to get any money!" Xander says, putting more confidence into his voice than I currently have in my entire body. Something weird is going on here.

"Oh yeah?" He laughs, "And who is going to stop me? 'Cause it certainly isn't going to be you two." Xander shoots a bolt of lightning at him. The man yawns and holds up a hand, creating a force field around himself. The lightning bounces off and hits the wall beside the farthest hostage; the waiter. He winces and scoots closer to the others.

"What the hell?" I demand, shocked.

"Surprise," he laughs, lowering his hand. I speed forward and flip him onto his back, pressing my knee against his throat.

"What is going on? Why are more supers appearing?" I demand. I am well aware that his companions have their guns fixed on me. I want answers though.

"You'll find out soon enough. For right now, goodbye Viper and Storm. You haven't seen the last of Flux though," he promises. Then he fricking disappears. Like completely gone. Not even under my knee anymore. And his stupid friends were gone too.

"Dammit!" I swear, jumping back up. I want to kick a chair but I have to keep my composure.

"How could you just let them get away with robbing us?" Mrs. Michaels, Xander's mum, screams as we help her up.

"You try stopping them next time and tell me how it goes for you," Xander snaps, clearly fed up. I can't say that I blame him. It's been a while since either of us has had a win.

"Viper, Storm, thank you both," Ashton calls out. I glance at him and my stomach flips. There is something in his eyes. Something that he knows that I don't. I don't like that look.

"No problem," I mumble. I grab on Xander's arm and speed us both back to my hideout so we could try to figure out what is going on.

Just in case y'all didn't know, his name is Flux because he creates force fields and the definition of flux is below. Just in case you need it.

Flux (n.)
the rate of flow of energy or particles across a given surface
