Nyssa's pov

"I still can't believe that you're a superhero," Calum states, walking down the hallway with me.

"Could you be any louder? Why don't you just shout it out so that the others can hear? I bet Mark would love that for publicity," I mumble, my mood foul.

"Sorry Viper," he apologizes. I freeze and grab his arm. I yank on his sleeve, turning him so that he is facing me.

"What the hell did you just call me?" I demand, staring Calum down. His eyes are wide.

"I'm sorry!" He exclaims. "It just kind of slipped out!"

"Lucy was right," I mutter to myself, laughing without humor, "I should've lied to you about this. Or even knocked you out and wrote this whole thing off as a crazy dream."

"You don't mean that, Nyssa," Calum says softly, "I messed up. I really am sorry."

I run my hand through my hair and lean back against the wall, "You can't possibly know if I mean it or not. Calum, I don't think you understand what I gave up just so you could know my stupid secret identity. Lucy made me choose. She then broke up with me and won't return my calls or texts. So stop freaking out alright. And don't call me that name unless I'm dressed like her." I'll be honest. I am on the verge of a breakdown.

"Nyssa, I'm so sorry. I wish I hadn't found out. I didn't realize that you gave up your relationship for me," he states, giving me a hug.

I laugh a little, "Don't get a big ego, Hood. She was mad at me for telling three other people too. You hear about the new super?"

"Sort of. They didn't really have a big news story. He disappeared from the scene pretty fast. That was you, wasn't it?"

"Yeah. He and his two friends. He is having a bit of a hard time controlling his powers. I'm gonna try to help him out. By the way, you can't tell anyone what I just told you. That's just an invitation for bad guys to show up."

"I know. I won't, Nyssa," Calum promises. I nod and bite down on my lip.

"Nyssa, Calum! Where are you two? Mark is walking up the driveway now!" Luke shouts from downstairs.

"Coming!" I shout back. I turn to Calum. "Race you down?"

"Deal. You won't use your powers in the hou-" I take off running, using my superspeed. I stop at the bottom of the staircase and lean against the railing, fixing my hair as I wait for Calum.

"That's so unfair," he complains. I stick my tongue out at him. He pouts. "I didn't think you'd actually use your powers in the house...." he trails off, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Wrong. I'm just careful to not use them around the others, who don't know my identity. I used my powers all of the time even before you knew my alter ego," I confess.

"We're so oblivious," Calum laughs as we walk to the dining room for the meeting.
