All she ever wanted
was a hand to hold onto,
someone who would never let her go.
All he ever wanted was a parent to talk to,
or at least a friend that he could get to know.
All they ever wanted was to be the right gender,
to be called the pronouns they felt were right.
And all I ever wanted was to help them all smile,
but I never got a chance to before losing the fight.
