Devil Dearest

Faintly falling through the light years,

take delight in all of my tears,

I know you know every nightmare

I might utter to my Savior.

Tempting me through my desires,
leading me into your fire,

secret truths I strive to hide,
invisible as melted lies.

Sin, a twister of the mind,
leaves no clueless soul behind.

Hardships, known as quick deceptions,
shapeshift under our reflections.

In a war 'tween good and evil,
fighting wood and stones and steel,

if we, humans, choose the right,
then through God's will, we reunite.

Devil dearest, you must know,

children spit upon your throne,
cursing you to your own home,
choosing to believe their own.

Devil dearest, tell me, why?

Why must you want us to cry?
How do you believe you'll win,
if all you ever do is lie?

Devil dearest, please explain!

How do you not feel ashamed?
All you've ever done is hurt,
do you find joy in causing pain?

Devil dearest, I'm confused!

Every time you try, you lose!
Why not give up here, today,
and choose to follow God's true way?
