I Remember

I remember a place
where all people were free,
where they laughed and they danced,
singing sweet harmony.

I remember a world
where our peace was restored,
where all people rejoiced
at the feet of their Lord.

I remember my home
not of the earth,
where I was safe,
where I had a worth.

I remember a land
where love's reach touched all hearts,
where the Devil lost power
to break us apart.

I remember, remember
remember the smile,
when I looked in the mirror
all I saw was a child.

But now when I see
my reflection, I think
"I am ugly, I am fat,"
I see hideous sins.

I remember a time
where temptation was lost,
where we all lived together
without any cost.

I remember these things
and I cry in despair,
why can't I go back
to when I was there?
