They told me,
"My dear,
don't you worry or fear,
for there's sunshine to come after rain."
They hugged me,
they loved me, they kept me believing
the price for my pleasure was pain.
They all testified
Of the love, of the light,
They all told of their fairy tale ending.
They all had assured me,
No matter who hurt me,
The answer was never pretending.
I sat there and smiled
Though, truth is, the child
then, isn't who I am now.
