Without hesitating, Dominic slams his body into Zull, catching him off guard and they both fall to the ground. Dominic has the upper hand but Zull fights back, trying to shed the body that was once just another innocent victim as spikes burst through the skin of his arms. Blood is spouting from everywhere on Zull's body and they're both now covered in it, but Dominic is still on top, holding him down as his cloak automatically transforms, spawning his magnificent, massive black wings.
"That-is-enough!" Dominic growls so loudly I have to cover my ears as he pounds Zull's head to the ground with each word. I trip over a rock, backing up from the splatter of more blood as ear piercing shrieks and the smell of death blanket the ground around me.
My head whips to the right the second I hear movement or maybe someone walking toward me and I let out a breath when I recognize his brown cloak. He's a one of the Seraph Fighters but he's covered in blood and there's something off in the way he's walking. His legs give out only a few yards from me and he drops to his knees. I instantly scramble to my feet and rush to his side. He's hurt, but where? There's too much blood. My hands go to his cloak, searching for a crystal as he falls to his side.
Holy shit, he's dying!
Out of nowhere, I feel a hand on my shoulder and I look up. Dominic is standing above me and my eyes instantly flash over to what look like the remains of Zull. I glance back up at Dominic, relieved he's okay but I need to help this man. "Hurry!" I shout, "do you have a crystal?"
"You cannot help him." Dominic whispers, like he's trying to keep it a secret.
"What? Yes I can!" I shout, scrambling to get him on his back but Dominic's arms wrap around my waist, pulling me away, "No you cannot."
"Why!" I cry, trying to break free but his grip is too strong.
"Because he is already dead!" Dominic shouts, his voice filled with anger, "He died with honor! We must give him the respect he deserves!"
I stop fighting because he lets go of me and I have to catch myself from falling forward, "What is your problem?" I stare up at him, "Why won't you let me help him?"
"What is my problem?" he says in such an enraged voice that I instantly step back, "You left the cave! You also managed to get yourself hurt on the way, causing every single Fighter out here to protect you!" he pauses and points to the field of dead bodies, "All those men, all of them, are dead because the Demons were coming after you!"
Oh, dear God...
"But I, I only wanted to help..." I stop talking and shake my head. How could I have done this? How could I have been so stupid?
Dominic leans down and picks up the Fighter I so badly wanted to save and heads toward the field of the dead. One by one, the other Warriors, who also look bloodied and battered, emerge from behind the trees, joining him as if they were giving us a moment. The five remaining Warriors reach down and lift the bodies in their arms and all at once pull back their cloaks and shout, "Accept this Fighter in life with true honor in death, oh mighty one." but they didn't say it in english when suddenly, a bright light surrounds each body and incredibly, they completely vanish from their arms.
I barely notice the tears rolling down my cheeks because I'm in awe of the spectacular, angelic sight. I haven't moved and am still staring in disbelief when I hear someone behind me and I pull my eyes away to see Dominic staring down at me with a blank face. I want to say I'm sorry, I want his comfort but he doesn't say a word and instantly wraps me in his cloak. I take in his rosemary and earth scent, allowing it to ease my thoughts as blackness shrouds me and I'm nestled into the arms of the man I so desperately love...
