The rest of the evening passed away with Lynn and I talking-well mostly Lynn talking about her kids and grandchildren. I listened politely, but I was lost in my own thoughts somewhere. I wonder if Will was still unsuspecting of our plans? I listened to Lynn talk about how much she loved her grandchildren and the presents she bought them when they came over. I felt the side pocket of my pants and patted the note, I'm glad it was still in there. I looked over to the clock above the wall-it was midnight. Just one more day to go, I thought. Jake would spend the day with Will tomorrow, and then after that, he would come here. I just have to get through tomorrow, I thought. I excused myself from Lynn and went upstairs to sleep.

When I got to my room, I changed and went over to the dresser. I found a candle I had bought months ago-vanilla chamomile. In he celebration of the moment, I lit it and basked myself in the scent of the candle. Just then, the phone rang. I went over and picked it up without looking at who was calling.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey darling, you sound very excited." It was Will. My face fell immediately. I cleared my throat and answered back,

"No nothing Lynn was just telling me a story." I said. "So how are you doing?" I said.

"Just landed. Couldn't wait to call you, so I did as soon as we came out of the terminal."

"How..sweet. How's the weather there?" I asked awkwardly. I really wanted to hang up the phone, but I couldn't make any rash moves.

"Oh you know, chilly. It was snowing earlier."

"It is Boston after all," I said toying with the candle.

"Ok just checking in, you go to bed now, and I'll call you tomorrow morning."

"Great." I lied and hung up the phone. I sighed and blew out the tiny flicker of flame on the candle. I jumped onto the bed and fell asleep immediately.
