I sat in my seat waiting for the bell to ring and math class to start. It was Wednesday, meaning kids from the grades above ours who needed help would come in to our honors class.
In came a group of older boys, they were all talking and laughing very loud. This caused the teacher to look up from her work and give them a death glare, yet they never noticed which caused her glare to turn into a look of disappointment.
Bored as I was, I just stared at the group. The way their humor was simply insulting or embarrassing one another, or occasionally some one outside of themselves. It seemed like a terrible group of friends to have, but they all seemed happy enough.
I snapped out of my thoughts when they noticed me staring and were all looking at me. I turned my head away quickly. I continued to look away for a few minutes, but when I glanced back I could see one of the boys heading for me, and not just any boy; Ryan Ross.
Out of all of that group of friends he had the biggest reputation for trouble. Sure he wasn't the worst kid in the school, but he definitely was one of the bad kids, especially compared to his friends who are too busy being dumb and picking their noses to do any real damage. Though that was thing about this one, he was smart in his own little devious way, that and he was cute.
"Hey." He spoke, leaning against my desk.
"Hi."
"You see my friends over there?" He pointed to a group of boys.
"Yeah."
"They're a bunch of assholes, who forced me to come and ask you out." Yeah right bunch of popular jocks forced a cute guy to ask me, a nobody, out? They couldn't be that nice even if they had to in order to keep lighting from striking them down.
"Forced?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Yep."
"No one can force you to do anything, Mr. Ross." I smirked.
He laughed slightly and rolled his eyes. "Okay maybe a part of me wanted to ask you out too." Yeah, I'm dreaming at this point.
"You don't say."
He laughed again. "So, Y/N, will you go out with me?"
I tap my chin and pretended to think. "Okay."
"Come on princess I can make- wait. You said yes?"
I laughed a little and nodded.
"Oh, well then um I'll pick you up at 9:00 tonight. And don't wear anything you wouldn't want ruined, and no pants, shorts only."
"How do you know where I live?"
"I have my ways."
"But-" The bell rang.
"Class take your seats."//////
I had to convince my parents to let me go on a date that started so late on a school night, and promise them that we were not going to have sex, and at the very least wouldn't come home pregnant.
I had put on an old black t shirt and some denim shorts that I never really liked. It seemed to fit the dress code he gave me.
It was exactly 9:00 when the bell rang. He wore cargo shorts and a tank top. He looked like he was going to the beach.
"Evening, m'lady." He smiled.
"Hey, Ryan."
He held out his hand and I took it. We walked outside and I closed the door behind us.
"I hope you don't mind but I thought we could walk, it's a nice night, as it is almost summer. Plus I get to talk to you more."
"No I don't mind. But why are we dressed like the sun's still out? I mean it isn't cold but..."
"You'll see."
"Oh come on. Tell me."
"Nope."
"Ugh."
He looked at me and smiled. The moonlight was reflecting in his light brown eyes making them look like crystals.
"You look beautiful." He said.
I blushed.
That moment was perfect, then Ryan, too busy looking at me ran into a poll.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" I asked, holding back laughter.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He was laughing a little too. "I didn't hit it that hard."
"Okay." I said biting my lip.
He looked at me and tilted his head. "Just laugh, it was funny."
And with that I bursted out laughing.
He just smiled and wrapped his arm around me and we kept walking.
It was about another ten minutes till we arrived at the place our date would take place.
"We're here. The city pool." He said as we walked up to a high fence made of black poles.
"No. No way."
"Come on, my friend works here and he left the gate open for us." He took my hand in his. "Please, it'll be fun."
I took a breath, and rolled my eyes. "Fine."
"Sweet. Come on, let's go."
As he said the gate was left open and we walked right in.
I walked to up to the pool and took off my shirt.
"Whoa."
"What?" I asked.
"I told you to wear shorts and clothes you didn't care about so you didn't have to strip. I mean didn't think you would."
"Oh. Still if I come home with my clothes soaked my parents are gonna ask why and then I'll have to explain."
"True." He took off his shirt.
I took off my shorts.
"Okay, damn." He said.
"Shut up." I said, rolling my eyes.
Then he took off his shorts.
I walked over and took his wrist and pulled him toward the pool. Of course I was acting suductive, that way he wouldn't expect me to push him in right when he was close enough to the edge.
"Y/N! No fair!" He shouted as he reached the surface.
"Oh it's very fair, Ry."
"Then so's this." He practically jumped out of the water into the air and grabbed my wrist and pulled me in with him.
I got up to the surface and immediately splashed water at him. He of course splashed back and it became a splashing war. After a while I went underwater and swam along the pool floor, and it being dark now, he couldn't see me.
I slowly surfaced behind him and splashed as hard as I could. He was frozen for a second then he turned around with a look on his face that just screamed 'run'. I turned as quickly as I could and tried to swim away, but he had already caught my wrist.
He spun me back around and we were face to face, inches from each other.
"Sorry?" I said.
He just laughed a little and then leaned in. His lips were on mine, and his hands moved to the sides of my face. I placed my hands on his chest.
He pulled away a little. "You know what? I like you."
"I like you too." I smiled.
We just looked at each other for a second, but then there were sirens. Panic was written all over his face. "We gotta get out of here." He said, taking my arm and dragging me out of the pool.
"Why? They won't see us and they probably are after someone else."
"Not when you're dad's the chief and is the only reason you don't have a parole officer. He's probably looking just for me." He ran out the open fence, leaving me to follow.
"Didn't you tell him where you were going?" He toward a bush then stopped in front of it and suddenly turned and ran the other way.
"No. That asshole doesn't need to know where I am."
"But he's your dad. I think he should kinda know where you're at." He ran up to a car. The window was open and he reached in and popped the lock up, then hopped in. He opened the passenger door from inside and I got in as well.
"They all say that, then they meet him."
"Oh...Why is you're car here? Did you plan on driving home?"
"This isn't my car." He said, and reached under the wheel.
"Wait, what?!"
"Relax, it's my friend's, the one who left the gate open, and he's too busy fucking in the bush to need or care about it. He's gonna crash there anyway wake up in the middle of the day, missing school, and then just walk over to the pool for work."
Then the engine started.
"What the hell? Do you have some secret key or something?"
"No, princess, it's called hot wiring."
He drove me home that night, and the night after that, and the next after that. We went to the pool every night for months. Most nights there was never any sirens, he just told me that 'a princess shouldn't have to walk everywhere'. His friend never noticed.
Eventually one night I asked how he hot wired a car, and he taught me how, then let me drive. We drove around the empty streets, laughing over stupid stuff.
I pulled up to my house and he turned to me. "You know what? I really like you."
"I really like you too." I smiled.
