Chapter 34
Nikki’s P.O.V
I groan as I attempt to get my suitcase out of the boot of Demitri’s car. Demitri stands to my left as I asked when I demanded I could get my bags out myself, he simply grinned and lifted his hands up in surrender before stepping over to where he is now.
With one last pull I lift it out of the boot. “Oh yea baby! Who’s boss now?” I exclaim with a fist pump. He shakes his head with a grin. “Still me baby, still me.”
I shoot him a fake glare in return as he bends down and picks up my suitcase effortlessly. “Oh shut up.” I playfully scold before grabbing my carry on and placing it on my right shoulder.
I walk toward the door of my mansion of a home. The cool Italian air, a nice change from the humid weather in New Caledonia, brushing against my skin as the wind picks up slightly.
I breathe out the fresh air and whisper, “home.” I can’t imagine my home anywhere away from here; away from Demitri.
Demitri and I make it to the front door and it opens before we even get the chance to knock. Esme stands with a beaming smile and arms wide ready for a hug. I rush forward into her embrace and hug her tight.
“Ahh I missed you so much Nikki!” she exclaims before letting me go.
“I missed you heaps as well. How was it here?” I ask her dropping my bag by the door.
“Meh, it was nice having the house to ourselves but it did get a bit boring without you here.” She confesses before placing her arms around my shoulders and leading me toward the kitchen. “Now before I ask about the trip I want to ask you something very important.” She scarily warns.
I look to her confused before urging her to go on. “Okay, did you or did you not do Demitri?” she asks seriously.
I give her a disbelieving look, “Is that seriously the important question you wanted to ask me?”
“Of course! What other question would be more important than that one?” she asks with a wink. We both stop as she waits for me to answer.
“Yes.” I quietly answer. Her eyes go wide as the single word registers in her mind.
“I knew it!” she exclaims with a grin. Suddenly she starts jumping around screaming, “Nikki and Demitri finally did it!” She chants those words over and over, jumping in the direction of the kitchen. Demitri comes beside me and wraps his arm around my waist. We walk together to follow the crazy Esme.
