A tall witch with black hair in a tight bun with emerald green robes opens the door. "Thank you Professor Grubblyplank, I'll take them from here." She says. Then she turns to us. "I'm Professor McGonagall. Please follow me." She pulls the door open wider as we file in. Once everyone's inside she closes the doors with a thud.

Inside is the entrance hall, it's so big you could fit my whole house in it, and that's big. The stone walls are lit with torches. We follow Professor McGonagall to a big set of double doors. She pushes them open wide and we follow her in. I notice my palms are beginning to sweat so I rub them on my robes. I'm really nervous. Four long tables run along the width of the Great Hall. At the very end of the hall, a table runs along the height of the Great Hall. At this table, all the Professors sit there. In the middle of their table sits a magnificent chair where headmaster Dippet sits.

Professor McGonagall takes out a long list standing by a three-legged stool. She sits a battered old wizard's hat on top of it. "When I call your name you will come sit on the stool and place the Sorting Hat on your head. The four houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff." She looks down at the first name and calls out:

"Andes, Emily."

A nervous girl separates herself from the crowd of first-years. Emily sits on the stool and places the Sorting Hat on her head. Not too long after that, the hats brim opens up like a mouth and shouts, "Ravenclaw." The Ravenclaw table erupts into cheers as Emily goes to join them.

"Beatherd, Mindy."

A blondy steps up to the stool and places the Sorting Hat on her head. "Hufflepuff." Cries the Sorting Hat. Then, after so many people later.

"Ogden, Autumndamort."

I slowly walk up to the stool trying to fight off my nerves. My instinct is telling me to run but I hold against it. I wonder what house I'll be in. I really hope It's not Slytherin, that would be a nightmare come true.

As I sit on the stool I place the Sorting Hat on my head. It's so big on me that it falls down my face and covers my eyes. "Hmm... Clever mind, yes, yes. Very brave." A voice says.

"Who's there?" I whisper.

"Why I am the Sorting Hat." The voice says. "Well, it might have to be GRYFFINDOR!" It shouts. The Gryffindor table starts banging on the table and stomping their feet. I smile real big and sit in an empty seat next to Ethancival.

"Ogden, Rookwood."

Rookwood walks up slowly, not as slowly as I did but slow. I cross my fingers under the table so hard I'm beginning to lose feeling in them. As he sits the Sorting Hat upon his head I can see that he is crossing his fingers to. Brother like sister. A few minutes later I start to get anxious when the Sorting Hat shouts, "GRYFFINDOR." I scream with the rest of our table, our family. He comes and joins me and Big E. "I started to get worried there." I tell him. "Oh, you had nothing to worry about," Rookwood tells me.

After everyone has been called up and everyone's seated, the headmaster stands up. "Hello and welcome to another great year at Hogwarts." He says. Everyone starts cheering and banging on tables. Headmaster Dippet waits for the noise to settle down before he continues. "I have a few things I wish to share with you before we dive into our marvelous feast. First years, the Forbidden Forest is off limits and that rule applies to everybody. Next, boys aren't allowed in girls dormitories." He looks around and lets his words sink in. "Now let the feast begin!" He sits down and starts talking quietly to Professor McGonagall.

All of a sudden food appears on the empty golden platters. "Man, they have Strawberry Tart!" Exclaims Rookwood. He grabs at least four and piles them on his plate. "Don't eat too much or you'll be so heavy we'll have to roll you to the common room." I smile at him and he just rolls his eyes as he starts on his Strawberry Tart.

I look down the table as a certain boy catches my eye.
