When I Saw Hogwarts

Chapter 12

It's nearing evening so I go downstairs to cook. I leave Lily with the boys knowing she can handle herself.

I've decided to cook my own homemade Chili recipe. Everyone's always telling me how good it is. I pull out my recipe out of a drawer. I know it like the back of my hand but I like to have the paper next to me. I start to move around the kitchen grabbing all the correct ingredients. I have a secret ingredient but I can't tell you that.

Fantastic smells soon fill the air and Rookwood, James, Sirius, and Lily all come downstairs.

"That smells wonderful." Exclaims Lily looking around for the source.

"Why thank you, thank you very much," I say and we all laugh.

"What are you cooking?" James asks.

"You'll see. It's my best dish yet." I tell him turning around to turn the stove temperature down a little. They all go back upstairs while I finish cooking.

When I'm done I set the table and call everyone down. They all run down the stairs and seat themselves at the table. Mum comes in and sits down in her usual spot. Then Grantbus comes down and sits. "Ethancival is going to be jealous when he hears what you cooked." He says with a smile.

"Well, that's his fault then for not coming home for the holidays," I say bringing in bowls of my Chili and placing them in front of everyone. "Oh, Grantbus do you mind getting everyone something to drink?" Asks mum.

"Of course mother," Grantbus says and then pulls out his wand. "What would everyone like?"

"I'll have ice water," Mum says.

"I'll also have ice water." Says Lily.

"I'll have Fizzy Pop," James says.

"Me too. I'll have some Fizzy Pop." Says Sirius.

"Alright," Grantbus says filling everyone's cup. "And what would you like Autumn?"

"I'll have ice water Grantbus." I say bringing in the last bowls of Chili. Grantbus fills my cup then fills his own with ice water.

We wait a few minutes and just talk until dad gets home. When he does he sees company at the table. "Oh, I didn't know we were having company."

"Hi dad! We came back for the holidays. Ethancival didn't come but Rookwood and I brought our friends." I say. I get up and give him a big hug "I've missed you."

"I've missed you too Pumpkin." Dad says and then we all sit down at the table. Dad gives thanks and we start eating. 

"Autumn, you've really outdone yourself this time," Dad says.

"Thanks, dad," I say. "Does anyone want seconds?"

"I do." James and Sirius say together. They look at each other and then everyone laughs.

"Coming right up," I say and take their bowls too the kitchen to fill. I go back into the dining room and give them their bowls back. They both say thank you and start eating. They either really like my cooking or their just doing that to be polite. I think the first one is the case.

When everyone's finished eating we go to the living room to talk. "Now may I might ask what your names are?" Asks dad. I forgot to introduce them. I've only called them friends too him.

"My name's Lily."

"My names James."

"And my name's Sirius."

"Nice to meet you all," Dad says. "Now I have one question for James and Sirius." Dad takes a deep breath and then looks both of them in the eye. "Do any of you have a crush on my daughter?"

James looks my dad in the eye and says, "No I don't. My eye is on someone else. No offense Autumn." He says looking my way.

"No offense taken," I say. My dad looks at Sirius waiting for his answer. Rookwood and James both look at him like they're worried about what he's going to say. Like they might know the answer. "Umm..." Sirius looks nervous. He starts to sweat so he wipes his forehead on his sleeve.

"Well, I...I do like Autumn." The room goes silent as Sirius looks at the floor embarrassed by being put on the spot.

I stare off into the distance my eyes wide. Of course, they were talking about me earlier. I can only guess that James has a crush on Lily. The way he acts whenever he's around her. Making his hair messier than it is. Trying to talk to her and impress her. I would have never guessed that Sirius had a crush on me. I mean I have a crush on him...

Everyone's staring at Sirius which is making him uncomfortable so I try to break the silence in the room.

"Well, since Sirius said he has a crush on me it's only right that I admit who I've had a crush on since the very first day of school." Everyone looks at me including Sirius. "My crush's name is Sirius Black," I say. I can feel myself blush but I don't look away. I stare into Sirius's eyes. He stares into mine. The room is silent again.

Grantbus chuckles and then mutters something about 'Young Love', and then he leaves the room and climbs the stairs up to the seventh floor where his bedroom is.

"Ok," Dad says with a smile breaking the silence. Then he and mum leave the room to go to there bedroom. We all sit there in silence.
