When I Saw Hogwarts

Chapter 10

About a month has passed and now it's December. When Professor McGonagall came around with a list of those who wanted to stay during the holidays, Rookwood and I didn't sign up. Neither did our friends. We were all going to our house for Christmas Break. I've already sent an owl to mum and she said that it was fine with her. Then James, Sirius, and Lily sent letters to their parents and they all said it was ok. James's parents kind of adopted Sirius so they sent a letter together. But that's a story for another time.

I look around my space making sure I have everything. I'll leave my posters here because I've already got ones hanging up back at home. I make sure I have everything I need before checking on Lily.

"Do you have everything packed?" I ask sitting on the floor beside her.

"I think I have about everything packed." She says throwing some books into her trunk. "There. All packed."

"Good," I say standing up. "Let's go see how the boys are doing with their packing." We walk over to their dorm and walk in without knocking. They all look up. Stuff is all over the floor and there trying to pick most of it up.

"What happened in here? Did a tornado come without me knowing?" I ask sitting on Rookwood's bed.

"Not really." Says James throwing his robes into his trunk. We're all dressed in muggle clothes for the journey home. I'm in my skinny jeans and Quidditch jersey. My hair is hanging down.

"Oh well. We'll help you, right Lily?"

"Yeah, I guess so." She says and starts picking up James's books off the floor. I take Rookwood's robes and his hat and gently put them in his trunk. Then I put Tony in his cage refill his water bowl. I go to Sirius's bed and fold his robes and put them carefully in his trunk so they won't come undone. Then I gather up his books off the floor and stack them in his trunk.

Lily grabs a broom and starts sweeping. I go around and make all of their beds. A few minutes later their dorm looks so much better than it had. The boys all close their trunks and lock them. "We're ready to go then," James says. "By the way, you guys did an awesome job in here."

"Well before we came in here it was a pig stall," I say and then we all laugh.

We drag our trunks down to the ground level and go to the main doors. We wait as Filch checks our names off for people who are leaving for the holidays. We go outside as he moves on to the next person.

We finally get to the platform. We don't have to wait for long. The train pulls up silently and everyone climbs on. We find an empty compartment near the middle of the train. We push our trunks onto the rack above our heads then put Tony and Midnight next to the trunks.

I'm sitting in the middle of Rookwood who's by the window and Sirius who's near the door. Across from us are James who's by the window and Lily who's sitting beside him. We all joke and talk until we get back to London. I look through the window at the station to see mum and Grantbus there waving.

We all grab our trunks and owls and go outside to greet them. Grantbus goes and gets trolleys for our trunks and then we leave the platform by running through the wall. We leave Kings cross and go to the car. Mum puts a quick spell on the trunk so it goes deeper and all our trunks will fit. Then we all pile into the car with Rookwood sharing the passenger seat with Grantbus. The rest of us sit in the back.
