His heart was racing. He couldn't breathe or move; only stuck there in pure horror as the clicking noises slowly came closer and closer to him, echoing louder and louder each step the beast took. He didn't want to say anything, not to yell, not even to breathe. He just wanted the sounds to go away and stop terrorizing him. Since he was at a part of the cave that had multiple corridors that split off into many directions, he had no idea which one the bear would come out of. It might be the biggest one, the one almost the size of the entrance. It's probably a huge bear that could kill me with a touch of its razor sharp claws! Then, finally, out of the leftmost corridor came a dim red and orange light. Bears can't hold torches, can they?! Still, he didn't dare move as to not have the bear notice he was still in the cave.
As the clicking of claws came so close that they started to ring in his ears and through the cave, the light growing brighter with every click. Out of nowhere there was a strong, deep voice, "Who goes there?" It called, "What do want with me in this cave of mine?" Oh, thank god, it's just a person. He though. But what came out of the corridor shocked and amazed him more than a bear or person ever could. There, standing in the corridor big enough to fit a semi-truck, stood a dark, orange colored dragon. It looked like a giant piece of gold. Its scales glittered in the light of the torch and rebounded light onto the walls. Its wings were tucked at its sides as to not hit the cave walls. Its head was ducked down so it wouldn't bump against the ceiling, "I said, what do you want with me inside of my cave, human?" It said more aggressively than the last time, "I haven't seen one of you in years, and I wish to keep it that way."
"W-Well, uh, y-you see I was just taking a walk outside on the pathway and noticed the entrance to this cave, I thought I should go in it just to check it out." he was so scared that he couldn't stop himself from stuttering horribly whenever his jaw shook. "I-I can leave now. I'll just g-go. I won't come back I promise mister d-dragon." he said as he slowly started to back up.
"No! You stay right where you are. I can't have you leaving here and telling anyone about me. After all, this is my cave and you are trespassing here. Now, come inside, I'm guessing you're probably cold from these cave walls." they both started down the corridor that the dragon had come out of, "My name is Rex in your language. You wouldn't understand if I told you my actual name."
"Oh, h-hi Rex, my name is Rin. I-I really could leave if you want."
"Quit stuttering!" he snapped, smoke rolling out of his nostrils. "It really gets annoying, you know. You don't have to be afraid of me, if that's what it is. I don't particularly like the taste of humans anyways, so full of lies and hatred—disgusting things to be honest." Rin was slightly confused at the statement but didn't want to ask as to not aggravate the dragon more.
