They both inched closer to the flashing of the metal, careful as to not be spotted by anything. When they got into the clearing where the dragon fell they saw a black dragon laying in a mound of dirt that had been amassed from the fall. It had silver armor on its head and wings and its scales glistened with a purple hue. It was much more serpentine like at the neck than Rex was. They approached it cautiously, trying not to make too much noise. The dragon's eye twitched open and looked back at them both. It jumped up, spreading its wings, and started walking backwards, its head low to the ground.

"Woah, hey now, were aren't here to hurt you. We want to help, we saw you get hit and fall." Rin said, putting his hands up in front of himself.

"Who are you two?" It said in a deep voice.

"We're here to help. We just wanted to see if you were injured or not, we are being hunted right now too." Rex said, walking closer.

"Stop right there! Don't come any closer to me! How do I know you aren't a filthy traitor?" It said with a hiss and a puff of smoke.

"Rin, show them the scar." Rex said. Rin stepped over to him and loosened the strap on the metal plate covering his scar. "I got this during the war. The human leader gave it to me. I've wanted to pay him back for a while now."

"How can I know you aren't lying?"

"Well, we haven't tried to kill you yet, right? I'd say that's a pretty good start." Rex said.

She considered it for a moment, "Fine. But don't try anything funny, I'll be watching you both. My name is Raven, I was in the war too, head of my squadron." she said.

"I never heard of any female leaders in the war."

"That's because I was the only one, and it was a very high ranking squad; one of the best. Where were you in all of it?"

"I was never really part of the army, I was more of a... lone dragon, you might say. I was fighting more for myself and whoever was near me at the time."

"Well, anyways, I see no reason to waste our time here. Shall we be off?" she asked, heading towards the brush.

"Wait, aren't there men out there?" Rin asked, stopping her.

"Yes, there are. And we are going to take them down. Who are you anyways, boy?"

"I'm really not sure at the moment. I'm supposed to stop your war, but I don't want to fight. We are currently headed to Antarctica."

"You're going to the magic council?" she asked, looking up at Rex.

"We plan to. They're probably looking for us, right? So why make them wait?"

"There's no way you can find it. Not without their help in some way."

"Rin is all the help we need. He knows the way, he has to know."

"Wait, wait. I know the way? I barely know where we're at right now." Rin announced.

"Relax, it will come to you. You just have to be patient."

Rin stepped back and leaned against a tree. What am I supposed to do? I can't lead the way to some place in Antarctica. I barely know how to get to the nearest gas station back home! Oh, this is hopeless. I'm supposed to stop the war? How? I can't just yell at them and tell them to stop fighting. "Rex, how do I do this? I don't think I can possibly stop something this big."

"Rin, worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. There's no use to you giving up now. You'll see."

He was almost confused by the statement, but got a glimpse of what he meant. Just as he pushed himself from the tree, he suddenly felt light headed and fell to his knee.

"Rin! Are you alright?" Rex asked in a worried voice.

"He's receiving a message."

"A message? A message from who?"

"I have no idea. Maybe the enemy, maybe another dragon nearby." Raven said, looking around.

"It hurts... it's scratching inside of my head. I don't know what it is!" Rin said, ripping his helmet off and squeezing his head.

"Let it come inside. It is a message from someone, the longer you try to keep it out, the more you will be in pain."

"Alright, I hope it isn't anything bad." Rin said. He started letting go of the barrier in his head, and as soon as he did, he heard a voice. Where are you, child? You need to hurry and get here. The human army is starting to get out of hand, we desperately need support! With that, the voice faded away and the scratching stopped.

He let go of his head and looked up at Rex, exhausted, he said, "Who was that? What did he want?"

"What did he say to you?"

"He just told me to hurry and that the war was beginning again."

"It's one of the mages. They're waiting for you. It's best if you do not keep them waiting too long." Raven said.

"You're kidding, right? How could they get in my head like that?" he felt another pain in his head, this time it was much sharper. "Ah! Stop it!" he groaned in pain and fell to the ground holding his head with both hands. With magic, idiot. They aren't called mages for nothing, she said half playfully in his head. The pain stopped after he felt her leave his mind.

"That was me just now. The closer the one talking to you is, the more it hurts." Raven said with a smirk.

"Could you please not do that again?" Rin groaned as he got up.

"Humph, suit yourself. Anyways, I suggest we leave before they attack us by surprise. We need to kill them quickly or this could end badly for us."

"I agree, we should get going. Get on my back, we'll fly out of here and see if we can spot them from the sky." Rex said.
