As they ate he brought up building a house since they hadn’t seen any that they felt suited them. Jordan…But that’s so expensive she started to protest but he stopped her .I no correction WE can afford it he told her .Besides I listed my house in Boston so with the sale of that we should be good to go .Jon’s gonna handle everything for the build anyway so that cuts developer fees because the prick knows I’m family and he doesn’t charge family he smirked.
She conceded .When do we tell the kids? He asked with a big dimpled grin she threw a pillow at him
Work on the house progressed quickly, and they spent all their spare time looking for furniture. The week before she was supposed to take the twins to Boston for the final walk through the house was at least livable. Jordan had to leave ahead of them to finalize the sale of the home he placed for sale before coming to Philly.But promised to be back to share the drive to Boston with her .He promised he wasn’t going to leave her to embark on this journey alone
A week flew by and it was time to pack up and bid Philly goodbye except for periodic visits throughout the year.Stephs mother was a mess as they all were but they all knew this was a step in the right direction for them to make their family work. Jordan as promised was back the day before and he had all of their belongings that they planned on taking with them shipped ahead .All that was left was their luggage and themselves. Donnie and Jon flew out because Michelle had also decided to make the move as well and he didn’t want her and Lexi to make such a trek like that alone. They packed both the small U-Haul that was attached to the back of Jordan’s car with their luggage and got into the car. Jon agreed to drive Steph’s car to Massachusetts while the other four planned on splitting the drive time up between them. Marcel whined to drive with Jon which suited Steph fine because the twins were devil incarnates on long trips and the stress wasn’t needed .They arrived in Boston Friday morning
That Saturday was moving day. The twins were everywhere at once, but Steph was too busy to care. At around five, all the big furniture was in place. The twins were unpacking their toys in one of the spare bedrooms. Steph collapsed onto the sofa in the living room, too tired to get up when the doorbell rang.
Donnie and Michelle soon walked in carrying pizza boxes. “You don’t answer the door anymore?”
“Not when it’s that far away.” Steph sniffed. “Is that dinner?”
Marcel! Marcie! Jordan!” Steph hollered. “Supper!”
She forced herself to get up and go to the kitchen. She poured milk for the twins and grabbed sodas for everyone else. She grabbed napkins and plates and took everything to the living room.
“Wow! Pizza! Thanks, Aunt Shelly and Uncle Donnie!” Marcie squeaked
Jordan plopped down on a spot on the floor .Thanks bro he murmured grabbing a slice .Donnie nodded Thanks Shellybelly he told her smiling as she was about to clear her throat. Jordan your horrible you know that Steph began as she choked on a swallow of her soda .She hates that and you know it Steph chastised him as Michelle narrowed her eyes and threw a napkin at him. The other guys filtered in slowly to help where they could to get them settled quickly. The furniture they ordered was delivered earlier in the day so unpacking was all that was left to do but with all that Jordan had purchased for their new home that in itself was a huge undertaking. He offered to hire someone to help but she firmly told him no.
The next morning as they drove to Jordan’s moms house Marcie all of the sudden asked
“Are Grandma and our aunts and uncles nice? “Jordan looked to her as if he was going to answer but she stopped him
“I don’t know. I’ve never met any of them.”
“I bet they are. Daddy’s nice, Marcel observed Jordan smiled to himself .His son thought he was nice and Uncle Jon is nice, too “Marcie chimed in
“Why aren’t you staying with us?”
“Because we want you to spend time with Grandma Marlene and Grandpa Alan. We’ll have my own vacation, but still be nearby if you need us. Daddy got us a room at a very nice hotel,”
They pulled into Marlene’s driveway, and it took all they could do to keep the kids from jumping through the car window. “Uncle Jon!” Marcel shrieked, pulling away.
They greeted Jon, who threw open his arms for the twins to hug him. He released them and hugged each of them.
“You look dead on your feet already. He teased I’ll go get Ma and David, and then we can take these rug rats off your hands!”
Marlene and David as well as Jordan’s sisters and other brother Chris greeted them
Are you sure they can handle this she murmured to Jordan
“Stephi, we’ll be fine. Besides, my mom will be around the whole time. “Jon answered for his brother
They hugged and kissed the twins. “Be extra good for your aunts and uncles and Grandma. We’ll call tonight.”
“Okay! Bye, Mommy! Bye Daddy” They said, eager to go meet their new family.
