Chapter 7: Elphaba's Point of View

Elphaba was walking through Crage Hall one day when she bumped into Fiyero, Galinda's boyfriend. They had been dating 3 months now. Although Galinda had not warmed up to Elphaba in the slightest, she and Fiyero were friends, and as much as she didn't like to admit it, she crushed on him. Hard.

"Oh! Hey Elphaba! Have you seen Galinda?" he asked. Elphaba looked up from her book.

"No. Sorry. Why?"

"Oh. She said she wanted to do something today." he frowned.

"Well, actually, I think she's with Pfannee. Sorry Fiyero."

"It's okay. I shouldn't really be that upset. She always does this, I should be used to it by now." he paused as if he were in deep thought for a moment, then, "Hey! Would you like to do something instead?" Elphaba tried her hardest not to show any of the enthusiasm she had at the moment. She agreed, and for the rest of the afternoon she and Fiyero talked as they walked around the campus. Fiyero told her how much he wanted to break up with Galinda, because she was so clingy, annoying, and didn't seem like she wanted a real relationship, as though it were just for show. He said that he had tried to break up with her, but she wouldn't listen.

"She calls me Fifi. In PUBLIC!" The two students laughed.

"I'm sorry she won't let go. That must be really awful. I could try talking to her if you wanted." the Eminent Thropp smiled at the Vinkus boy. His eyes glimmered in the sunlight that hit his face.

"Really? Thanks Elphie." he paused again, a grin forming on his lips. "Hey, what about you? You crushing on anyone right now?" Fiyero laughed nervously. Elphie's eyes widened.

"Uh.......yes.........maybe.........but it's not like he likes me back. No one does. I'm a green freak, remember?" She lifted up a green hand. Fiyero smiled.

"Not a freak, just different. Well anyways, do I know him? Well?"

"Yes actually" She started to get nervous.

"Does he have brown hair? Blue eyes?" Elphaba didn't know what to do.

"Yes. Alright Fiyero, I really must be going. It's not like he likes me back." She started off toward her dorm, but Fiyero stood in front of her. "Wait! Elphaba! I've talked to him! I think he likes you back!" The green girl started to get chills of excitement.

"Probably not." She sighed.

"No. Let me rephrase that. He likes you back. He never liked his other girlfriend. Never. He always wanted you to be his."

And then he kissed her. It was the greatest feeling in the world for Elphie. All her life she was pushed around and was never loved, because she was different. Now there was a young Winkie prince by the name of Fiyero, and he loved her. The two broke apart.

"Wow." Elphaba exhaled.

"I....I'm sorry.... too soon?" sighed Fiyero, but Elphie smiled.

"No. That was amazing." and they kissed again. And again.
