Chapter 14: Galinda's Point of View

There were so many things on Galinda's mind all at once. Most recently- she was ticked off at Shenshen. Shenshen was one of Galinda's best friends, but she knew very well that Galinda didn't mind Elphie. In fact, she could be a lot of fun when she wanted to, if you were willing to look past the exterior and her protective, rude veneer of a personality. She also was stressed about planning the funeral. There had been so many details. She wanted it to be just right, although she had only met the old Goat once. He had never been able to say her  name right! How hard was it to say Galinda with a GUH? She needed to do this for Elphie. After all, she had backed off the perfect guy- one who LIKED her, too- for Galinda's sake. She was infinitely grateful for that. And maybe- just maybe- she could be with Fiyero again, the only guy for her that there ever would be, and she wouldn't have to die alone. No matter what she said to Elphaba or Elsa or anyone else- she was still dying inside over her soul mate. She had blown it for being too annoying and she would NEVER forgive herself unless he took her back. But most of all, she was terrified of her own abilities. That was why she had to see the wizard- she found out that she was dangerously magickal. Recently, every time she went  out to the OzDust with Pfannee and Shenshen, strange things would happen- the punch bowl would levitate, her shoes would change color, little things- but today all she could think about was poor Ama Clutch. She had completely made up that disease to try to get rid of Elphaba back before they were friends- talking to inanimate things, forgetting people were alive- she had hoped it would scare the green girl away. It of course didn't, it was completely outrageous and fictional, sprung from her own mind on the spot. But now, her Ama's fake condition had magickally become reality, and she was certain it was her own doing. She was afraid of what she might accidentally do next, and she wanted to see the wizard for guidance. She didn't want to have the same thing happening to Elsa or anyone else. After hearing about Ama Clutch, she paced and panicked until she fell asleep. She awoke at 3 AM to see Elphaba quietly shutting the door. She took a moment to adjust to the dark to see Elphaba, grinning almost stupidly, her dress wrinkled and hurriedly buttoned. Galinda watched in silence as her roomie slipped back into bed, smilling ear to ear. She waited a moment, then broke the silence and illusion of her sleeping by speaking.

"Elphie?' Galinda sat up and watched her roommate sit straight up in shock.

"Galinda?!? How long have you been awake?" Elphaba looked wide-eyed and scared.

"Ever since you came in. Why were you out anyway? You want to be rested for the Emerald City."

"I uh......." she seemed at a loss for words.

"Elphie, all I want is the truth. You don't have to give some crazy lie of an excuse." You could practically see the gears turning in her raven-haired head. She sighed.

"Galinda......."
