Chapter 22: Galinda's Point of View

Galinda had to admit, she had been glad to see Elphaba after so long. She had been so worried. She hated to see her so sad usually, but today the mere sight of her warmed her lonely heart. She'd just been warming up to Biq and starting to get over Fiyero when he was turned into metal. He claimed it was Elphaba's doing, but she refused to believe that. Elsa disagreed also. She was certain Elphie had turned him into a robot to end some sort of suffering. But no matter- there was no way she could date him now. He had disappeared into the woods, leaving Galinda with only Elsa for company, even though she wasn't even in Oz. There was a Fifi shaped hole in her heart.

"Glinda, you're so good!" an Ozian called out to her as she stood on a public stage in the Emerald City. She smiled and tried to forget the emptiness inside of her. She was still grateful for Elsa, even though she was hiding in Corona for the time being.

"Do you think that girl will kill the Witch, Glinda?" She was taken by surprise on that one.

"Well, I don't know, I wouldn't expect it."

"Glinda, where is she now?" Hopefully far away, she thought. Elsa couldn't be found. She was too happy with Flynn.

"Well, let's see!" She tried to hide her annoyance. I mean, she couldn't tell them that "Dorothy" hadn't actually killed Nessarose- she just happened to be standing there when the house fell. She was a bit concerned- I mean, she didn't have an ounce of magick to protect her! And seriously, they still didn't have GAlinda's name right. She waved her embellished, glittery, star-tipped wand and an image of Anna appeared. Her magick had grown considerably, and visuals were her latest trick. Along with half of the Emerald City, Galinda watched Anna running down the road. She shrieked, "Come back!" Another equally high scream of "Toto!" followed, but it didn't seem to come from Anna. Before she could recognize the yelp, Boq started walking into the picture. Boq seemed in pain and Anna was in obvious distress. How had she found Boq? And what had hurt him? A million questions raced through Galinda's blonde brain. the image continued. Anna suddenly crashed into something. Was that......a Lion? Lions weren't in areas close to the City or Munchkinland. They must have found their way pretty far....to the Vinkus, maybe? The image dissolved. Galinda was slightly shocked.

"Well," she said, "It seems Dorothy has found her way... quite out of the way." The good witch winced. She had never been good with directions. she was supposed to be on the yellow brick road, yes.... But going the other way. That end of the road went straight through the Vinkus, where she suspected Elphaba was hiding....to the Emerald City. She needed some sort of diversion.... If Anna made it to the city, she would find out Elsa's whereabouts, and ruin her relationship by bringing her back. The ceremony concluded, and Galinda went in to her castle, and began to write a letter to Elsa.

Elsa? Anna's in the Vinkus now... but I'm afraid she's heading this direction. Don't send another storm, that would probably kill her. The last one killed Nessarose, Elphaba's sister. It's quite confusing, you're better off hiding in Corona for now. It would kill me to see  you be taken from the one thing you've let change your life. it's obvious you're mad for Flynn, but it's not worth risking. Stay where you are and your chances are best. Say hi to your lover for me,

Galinda

When she finished, she sent the letter off in a bubble. Now came the matter of Elphaba. The letters the two had been sending each other kept them close, but she missed her green friend. She needed to see her again, but how? She had no idea where she was. as Galinda thought about it, another random thought popped in to her head. Where was Fiyero? She hadn't seen him in ages, but she pushed that thought aside and continued to think about Elphie. Galinda decided she was going to follow Anna and Boq to see if she was right about the Vinkus. The new Ozian ruler wanted nothing more than to prove to her country that her close friend was NOT Wicked, and she intended to do just that. tomorrow, she'd set off to find her Wicked  Witch of a friend, and set things right.
