Jada's POV

Instead of answering my question, Marlon has just been staring at me for the past five minutes. Dejah walked off to call Korrine's mom to let her know what's going on. The last thing we want to do is freak her out, but it's not a coincidence that Ren sent us these texts and that her phone is shattered and on the ground. Whatever Marlon knows will put the puzzle pieces together, and Ms. Brown deserves to know it too. This is her daughter after all.

"Tell me what's going on!" I yell harshly.

"I just got off the phone with Ren's mom, and she's on her way. Now come on, Marlon. We don't have all day," Dejah says, joining us again.

Marlon starts pacing back and forth."I...I was just with her. We was talking and laughing, and then Mike walked in. He was tripping and shit, throwing Ren guns and knives, telling me I had to go. This shit is too much!"

Michael giving Ren a gun and a knife doesn't sound like him. Ren doesn't even know how to handle a butter knife properly when she's toasting her bread, so I can't even imagine him giving her a knife, let alone a gun.

"What do you mean this is too much? Korrine's in trouble, and we need to find her because is she dies...if Ren dies it's all on us!" I cry.

This is the scariest thing that has ever happened, and I don't know how to handle it. This is my best friend that we're talking about. I was just with her this morning. I was able to hug her, laugh with her, and tell her that I love her. Just knowing that I might not be able to do it anymore is making me want to go crazy. Nothing Marlon is saying is really making sense.

"I know that!" he shouts. "Look, like I said, I was just with her. We was having a cool time, and then Mike came in the house talking 'bout how some people was coming to take her. Next thing I know, he giving her a gun and a knife to protect herself. I tried to stop him and see what was up, but he made me leave. I didn't know whether to come back and help her or do what Mike said, but I just ended up coming back," he explains, his voice cracking. "I'm sorry, baby. I know I should've done something." He falls to his knees and clutches my waist.

"We have to call the police," Dejah says, folding her arms over her chest and shaking her head. "We need to do something."

Marlon jumps up quickly. "We can't call the police. If we do, that's what I'm gonna have to tell them for them to do anything, and it's only going to get Mike and Jessie in trouble with the law. We can't do that," he says.

"What are we supposed to do then?" I shout, throwing my hands up in frustration.

He's right about not needing to get Jessie and Michael in trouble, but at the same time, I'm thinking like Dejah too. I want to dial nine, one, one as quick as anyone would.

"We gotta chill out and try to call Mike. He'll tell us what we need to do," Marlon says. "Let's get in the house until Ren's mom gets here."
