Korrine's POV
I grab all my bags and get out the car, yelling goodbye to Jada and Dejah. They say goodbye back and when Jada sees that I have the front door open, she pulls off. I walk in the house and pass out on the couch due to our exhausting girls day. Jada and Dejah sure can wear me out. They're just too much fun. I love my girls, and I really did need that little time with them. We had a chance to catch up, and we actually paused on my life and talked about them too. I feel so guilty just filling them in on all my problems and never listening to theirs.
I found out that the night Mike came in the house mad was because him and Dejah got into an argument. Me and Jada told her that day at school that if she avoided him, then he would just show up to her house acting a fool, but they were also arguing because he was talking about how he's still selling loud every now and then, and she got mad. It made me upset just hearing it. I don't understand why he's still out there hustling knowing he's so close to graduating. If he goes to jail, then what? Not only would my mom have lost her children's father, but she'd also lose her son. He needs to think about shit like that.
I also found out that Marlon and Jada haven been getting a little closer. Close as in bumping and grinding close. It kind of shocked me, but they're both seventeen, and they're in love. I just told her to make sure that they stay safe and don't bring home any babies and stuff like that. I was wondering why Jada had been looking real happy lately and why they've been way more intimate and hugged up. She says it's bettered their relationship a lot. My best friend just isn't so innocent anymore, and I'm the last one that is, since Dejah lost her virginity to my brother last year.
Overall, we had fun. We shopped, got our nails done, and then went out to eat. I missed them, and they missed me. I need to stop focusing so much on these boys and worry about my family and friends. No matter what, I stay on top in school, so that's not a problem.
"You're late."
I jump from the sudden voice. I look up to see it's Michael leaning on the hallway frame with his arms crossed. I grab my phone and look at the time. It reads 7:06 p.m. Damn. "The girls and I were just having so much-"
"I don't care no more. Momma want you," he interrupts.
I stare at his back as he walks out of the living room and slams his door once he's inside his room. He can really be dramatic and take things too far sometimes. I get up to go see what my momma wants, but I go into Angel's room first. She's just sitting on her floor, playing with her Bratz Dolls. I quietly sit next to her, and when she notices me, her eyes grow wide, and she gives me a huge hug, making me laugh. "Nice to know you're happy to see me."
She giggles. "Where have you been, sissy? Why didn't you come home all weekend?" she questions, pointing her finger at me accusingly.
"I was at Jessie's house. Let me go talk to momma real fast, and then I'll come back." She nods and I get up and walk out, heading to my momma's door. I knock twice before opening it. She's sitting at her desk, filling out some papers.
"Korrine Michaela Brown, did I buy you a phone?" she asks.
Figuring it's a rhetorical question, I don't say anything.
"Hello? Am I talking to you or myself?" she snaps, standing up and walking towards me.
"Yes, you did buy me a phone. It's right here," I say, holding it out.
"Don't fix your mouth to get smart!" she yells.
I roll my eyes mentally. Parents always want you to answer their questions when they're mad, but every answer you give them is you being smart. It doesn't make any sense.
