ZOEY POV
I opened the door to see the man that I've been wanting to see. His name... Jesse Zeklos. He had blond, slick hair with jade eyes. Almost every royal has those kind of eyes. I never got why. I guess it's a way of telling that their royal. I could tell that Lord Zeklos was Jesse Rayburn's father.
"Lord Zeklos," I curtseyed. "What a pleasure to meet you!"
"Ms. Sage," Lord Zeklos said, "may I come in?"
"I'm sorry for not welcoming you in."
"No problem at all."
"May I ask...Why are you here, Lord Zeklos?"
"My son. He's your fiancé, right?"
"Yes sir," I replied.
"Jesse told me to stay away from you. He doesn't want you mixed up in the royal business. I understand what he wants. Even though he doesn't want you mixed up in this, I'd like to get to know you," he explained.
"How many siblings does Jesse have?"
"Zero."
"He's an only child? I thought you had another child."
"Well, I do have another child. Amberle... Amberle Susanne Zeklos."
"Is she coming to the wedding?"
"I'm afraid not."
"Why would she be so ignorant not to come to her own brother's wedding?"
"Because she died," a voice says from behind me. I looked and saw Jesse.
"Lord Zeklos, I'm so sorry. I had no clue. I assumed and-"
"It's okay," Lord Zeklos said. "We will have to just go with it. It was nice talking to you, Zoey."
JESSE POV
"I thought I told you to stay away from her!" I told my dad outside the apartment.
"And I thought I told you to stop being like your sister. That's what got her killed. Her arrogance. If she had listened to me, she wouldn't be with the Strigoi!" My dad yelled.
"I wish for once in your life, you'd listen to everyone else and forget that your a royal."
"I'm only trying to protect you!"
"No, your not. Do you not remember that it was me, who was with her when the attack happened?"
"I was more conscious than you. I watched her be arrogant towards the Strigoi who was trying to help us."
"That Strigoi was not trying to help us!"
"Then why every time a Strigoi came around that one Strigoi tried to help us? Can you explain that?"
"No, but-"
"Thank you, son."
"Go to hell!" I said before walking into the apartment and slammed the door.
Zoey was concerned and said, "Jesse, is everything alright?"
"Never talk to my dad again!" Jesse yelled.
"Eh, why?"
"Cause he don't care and will try to make you believe something that never happened!"
"Well, you'll have to talk to him sooner or later!"
"No, I don't."
"Too bad, cause he's coming to the wedding!"
"What!"
