Chapter 1

LISSA POV

It was an early morning. I was pregnant once again. It had been almost two years since Rhea had been born. Christian and I had been married for six years. In the mist of our marriage, Christian and I have had three children. We were about to have our fourth one. We have had two boys and one girl. Christian insisted that we named our children after my parents and brother. It was something I refused. But we finally came to compromise. We had Eric Christian Dragomir Ozera six years ago. Andre Clarence Dragomir Ozera was born four years ago. Rhea Rosemarie Dragomir Ozera was born two years ago.
There was a knock on my bedroom door. The door opened and Rose came in with her daughter. Rose and Dmitri had been married for eight years. They had two children. One boy, one girl. When Rose first told me that Dmitri and her were having a baby, I was happy for her. Yet, at the same time I was confused. Dhampirs could not mate. In our world, Moroi could mate with another Moroi and have a Moroi. If a Moroi mated with a dhampir, they would have more dhampirs. It was not until Rose and Dmitri had sat down with Christian and me. They told us everything Adrian and Sydney told them. Since Dmitri had once been Strigoi, (evil lurking vampires who kill for Moroi blood), he could have children with any dhampir. Of course that dhampir was Rose Hathaway. Well, now she's Rose Belikov.

"Hello," I said.
"Hello Lissa," Rose said. "How are you feeling?"
"Good. How is my niece?"
"Good!" replied the three year old. "I mean...I am doing alright Queen Dragomir-Ozera."
"You are allowed to call me Aunt Lissa."
"Yes ma'am."
"Where's D.A.?" I asked.
"With his father." Rose replied in a gloomy voice.
"Why do you seem so gloomy?"
"Dmitri has D.A. who's currently being experimented on with Sonya Tanner."
"You use to like Sonya. What's happened Rose?"
"What's not wrong! She's always experimenting with my damn children!"
"She knows the reason of why Dmitri and you can have children."
"Yeah but the thing is D.A. never spends any time with me and J.V. never spends any time with Dmitri."
"Christian was the same way with Rhea, Eric, and Andre. He did not want to leave Rhea alone but Andre and Eric always wandered around Court to only be found by one of the guardians."
"Mainly me."
"Yeah. But wait until boys start talking to J.V.!"
"What do you mean?"
"You know how Abe was with Dmitri and Adrian."
"I do not think that Dmitri will threaten to disarm a boy."

ROSE POV

Lissa was right. But I did not want to admit it. Around midnight, Dmitri and I met up to eat lunch. It was cool. I had dropped J.V. off to mom. Lord Szelsky was at Court for a few months. This was the only time my mother got to see her grandchildren. When I gave birth to D.A., my mother wanted to come see me in the hospital. She wasn't allowed to because Lord Szelsky wouldn't allow it.
"Where's D.A.?" I asked.
"With Sonya and Mikhail." Dmitri replied.
"I don't like the fact that our children are being experimented on!" I gritted my teeth.
"Rose, calm down. Sonya and all of the vampire world just wants to know how dhampir are able to have children. Its never been like that. But somehow its happened to us!"
"You know why. Adrian told us."
"Yes. My cousin has told us what happened. But why did it happen to us? Why us?"
"What about Olive and Neil? It happened to them!"
"I think it has something to do with being turned back from Strigoi."
"Dmitri, I know that's right. But no one wants to accept it."
"Roza, there's something else bothering you. What is it?"
"I hate the fact that you don't love our three year old."
"J.V. is beautiful. I love her. Why do question that?"
"Because you never spend time with her!"
"Will you like it if I do from now on?"
"Yes! Infact, I would love to spend more time with our son!"
"Excuse me," a woman's voice said. "I hope I am not intruding." It was Sonya Tanner. She had D.A. with her. Dmitri got up and threw our trash away.
"No you weren't interrupting anything." I retorted. My voice was like ice.
"Guardian Belikov...I was just simply returning your son." Sonya said defensively.
"Sonya what would you do if your children were being experimented on?"
"I would freak out. I would hate it. I-"
"Exactly."
"Rose you don't have to be so mean to me."
"Lets just make this clear...I hate when D.A. is being experimented on. As a mother I would back off if I were you."
"Is everything okay?" Dmitri said when he returned.
"No, Guardian Belikov, Rose and I were just discussing how I will no longer be experimenting with your children." Sonya said and ran away.
"Rose you didn't have to do that!" Dmitri said.
"Didn't have to!" I retorted. "Seriously Dmitri!"

ADRIAN POV

I walked around Court looking for Sydney and Declan. I eventually found Sydney. She was talking with Dmitri. I had saw Rose run off. Ten minutes before that I watched Sonya Tanner run off. Declan had showed up right after D.A. walked over to me.
"Hello Cousin Ivashkov," D.A. said.
"Hello to you, too, cousin." I replied. "What's wrong with your mother?"
"She had a fight with daddy again."
"About the usual?"
"What made you think that?"
"What else does she argue about?"
"I don't know."
"Do you suppose that she went to your housing."
"Most likely."
"Thanks cousin."
"Dad?" Declan asked.
"Yes son," I replied.
"What am I to tell mom?"
"I don't know. Be glad its summer break."
"Or she'd have me studying nonsense."
"It wasn't nonsense. Your mother loves studying stuff." I knew that if I did say anything else Sydney would get after me. I went to Rose and Dmitri's house. I hit the door bell but there was no answer. Since I knew where the spare key was, I grabbed it and opened the door. Rose was sitting on the couch with Jill. Eddie was leaning against the counter.
"Hello Adrian," Jill inquired.
"Hello Jill, Eddie," I replied. "Rose may I talk to you?"
"Adrian...I don't think this is good time," Eddie chimed.
"Please guys."
"Jill lets go. You need to get to feeder."
Jill and Eddie left. I went and sat beside Rose. Its been a long time since Rose and I were in a room together. Alone. I wouldn't try anything stupid. Hell her husband was a fucking good guardian. If I had simply touched Rose the wrong way, than Dmitri would've beaten me up. I sat down beside Rose and asked her what's wrong. Why she ran away just a little bit ago? She explained everything to me. By the time she was done, Dmitri strolled in with Guardian Hathaway. D.A. and J.V. followed right behind her. I kind of liked what Rose picked out for her children's names. D.A. is short for Dmitri Abraham, and J.V. is short for Janine Vasilisa. Dmitri took Rose out of the living-room and into the hall. I guessed that he was taking her to their bedroom.
"Lord Ivashkov," Guardian Hathaway said. "What are you doing here?"
"Am I not allowed to see my cousins?" I asked making up the excuse.
"Yes. I guess you are. I still can't believe you and my son-in-law are cousins."
"Me too. I am the same way Guardian Hathaway."
"Since you, two, are the adults," D.A. Interrupted, "what's for dinner?"
"I will leave that to you Guardian Hathaway!" I said. "Sydney will expect me home in twenty minutes."
"Of course Lord Ivashkov," Guardian Hathaway said.
"Oh Guardian Hathaway?" I said walking towards the door, "Call me Adrian.
