Maybe Happy Endings Exist

My parents came home that weekend and we called social services so Steven didn't have to live in that god awful house. It's gonna take awhile for him to find new parents so he's staying with me which makes me happy. His dad tried to punch me again after but I've been working out more so I had no problem with beating him up. Steven seemed so relieved so that made me happy. We also found out who took that photo at the park.

It was a guy from our school named Adam or as everyone called him "Nanners." He was a popular jock and he had a thing for Steven but he rejected him a long time ago. Adam wanted to get back at Steven. We gave him a little scare at school for payback and I think he shit his pants. It was worth it to make Steven feel happy even though he may kill me later. To celebrate this good turn of events Steven decided to take me somewhere on a little date.

I've gotten more comfortable with flying but I'm still afraid I'm gonna fall to my death. Steven says I'll be fine and that I can hold onto his bat wings but I'm still not convinced.

"See any good landing spots?" He asked going around a flying bird that didn't want to move out its path.

I pointed to a clearing in a forest and we landed. I had no idea where we were but it looked relaxing so I just followed Steven down a trail to the top of a hill. It was calm and I felt like I could stay forever. Then Steven untied the things tied to his back while stretching. He put down a blanket and a picnic basket. I saw food also which made me a very happy man.

I gave him a back rub because I felt bad that he had to fly me all the way up here. Soon it turned into a tickle session until something fell out of Steven's pocket. There were two boxes that were velvet. He muttered and sat up pulling me up with him.

"I was gonna do this later but I guess I'll do it now." He said while opening the boxes revealing two rings. I didn't know what he was planning so I opened my mouth to ask but he put a finger on my lips. I shut my mouth and just nodded.

"These are promise rings.. they're signs of a serious relationship and I thought we should take it to the next step because I love you Anthony." He said while looking at the ground.

I felt the tears run down my face and I gave him a huge hug.

"I love you too Steven... I accept."

With that we put the rings on each other and just sat there smiling at each other. After awhile I gave him a peck on the lips and wrestled him onto the ground. We both laid down cuddling watching the sunset and making out every now and then. Yeah... only now and then. When I looked over at Steven I knew that everything I went through was worth it in the end because I got the love of my life. It was when I knew that everything was perfect. It was really a light up.
