wrong

I thought that perhaps
we were more than just
a one-sided
heartless
wretched
pair of beings.
I was wrong.

I thought that maybe
we could grow to open up
and confide with
trust
honesty
instead of me falling alone.
I was wrong.

I thought that perhaps
we were meant to be;
polar opposites
drawn
attracted
with beautiful colors.
I was wrong.

I thought that maybe
the hues in your eyes
were bright with
love
loyalty
and sprinkled with light.
I was wrong.

I didn't know I was wrong.
I now know that hope is gone.
I now know that there's no point
in moving on.

dreams are wonderful,
aren't they?
stay in the crowd.
I'll be here,
on the stage,
still wrong,
but alive.
