pause, play
your voice is on repeat
over and over again in my mind,
pause it, play
pause it, play,
filling me with those tiring thoughts
of how much you actually cared.
I miss hearing you talk about
how much you loved me,
even if I never had the guts to say
I loved you too, without a doubt.
and now you're gone,
what can we do but be mere pawns
in this sickening game of love and loss?
don't talk about wanting to avoid the cost;
what you break, you buy.
I know you're looking for a savior
in this secular age,
but I only long for someone who can sedate
my heart in its cage.
yours words are on repeat
over and over again in my mind,
pause it, play,
pause it, play,
filling me with those fearsome thoughts
of how dearly you needed me.
I miss hearing you talk about
how you wanted me,
even if I never was confident enough to say
I wanted you too, without a doubt.
what you break, you buy.
