sea girl

sea girl

my feelings are real; who knew?

doubted you'd trust me,

yet you do.

despite your best efforts to faze me,

I wish you'd just turn around and

face me.

I'm taking a chance now.

ignoring the fears and doubts

you've come to know.

only so I may say,

"I'd throw out a line to sea, girl,

to catch that wish you dreamed up

last night."

if I could, I'd make it come

true, girl,

but I hope I'm enough for you,

wish in hand

it's alright.

you believed in the good parts of me,

you could count more that I could find.

at the same time, you wondered why,

I think you're pretty

and hazy

but mostly,

I just need you.

take me as I am,

as I've always done for you.

and I'd just like to say, "I love you,"

but you listening

would be new.

so please,

I'm not asking

for you to need me

too.

don't cry.

all I ask is

for you to not say

goodbye.
