nevermind

sweet, simpering hands.
through darkness they reach toward
the glimpse of light between.
there's a crash and a cry,
both hands recoil,
unafraid but there is no love.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
this is the past,
not the present nor the future.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
I don't want you
anymore."

weak, trembling hands.
begging for some salvation.
silence is the only constant,
and the nodding of heads,
breathing but not alive.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
this was a facade,
and no longer.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
I don't want you
anymore."

two hands dance.
a quiet waltz.
a flickering flame exhales at the
lack of wanting,
now only smoke in the rain.

and the world sings,
"nevermind, nevermind.
we tried but why?
nevermind, nevermind.
there just isn't time."

fingers, slow fingers.
limp and nimble.
one, two, three, four, five.
lonely, lonely fingers.
desperate and flicking
for quarter.

hands grasp for something
no longer there.
still searching for somebody
they cannot have.

tired hands.
sad hands.
gesturing uselessly to no
avail.
terrified hands.
they can barely outrun love,
how can they expect to survive
hurt like this?

but the world only sings,
"nevermind, nevermind.
you loved but why?
nevermind, nevermind.
trusting too many lies."

a chant from the mind and
booming to the sky
like thunder in a storm.
sweaty, glistening hands reach up
to touch the light,
and the world now cries,

"nevermind,
nevermind,
somebody else'll come.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
heartbreak for a degree
gets nobody anywhere.

"nevermind,
nevermind,
somebody else'll love."
