Beatrice POV

I ran into the bathroom and did my business really fast. As I was done washing my hands, I heard the front door open and close and someone talking.

"Come on." They had said. The voice sound angry, aggravated, and masculine.

I heard another door open and close, and when it did close, I carefully made my way outside of the bathroom.

I saw keys on the ground but no one was out here.

Tobias was gone.

I quietly walked over to where I heard the second door open and close.

The basement.

I have a feeling something is wrong. Really wrong.

I freeze when I hear a slight scream from downstairs.

Tobias.

I quietly open the door and tip-toe down the stairs. I turn around the right corner and what I see breaks my heart in half, sets it on fire, stabs it multiple times, and it keeps repeating. But I don't even know why it feels like that.

I can't push the feeling away as I try not to let out a cry.

Tobias is kneeling down on the ground, shirtless, his head in his knees and his hands in fists. Someone, I think it's his dad, has a belt and is whipping his back.

I force myself to look away. I haven't noticed I shed a couple tears until I reached up to my face with my hands.

I know what I have to do, and I have to do it now.

"Stop!" I scream and turn around to the scene that's happening.

Marcus, I believe that's his name, looks to me.

"What are you doing here, Beatrice Prior?" He spits at me.

"None of your business. What the hell are you doing?" I yell back.

"Beatrice." Tobias' voice comes out cracked, "Go. Before he hurts you."

"No. I'm not leaving you." I tell him and then back to Marcus.

"Go, Beatrice." Marcus says to me too.

"No!" I scream and jump onto Marcus. I start punching him in the face, like I did with Tobias yesterday. But I punch Marcus harder. Harder than I thought I could ever punch. I thought he was unconscious, so I slowly got off of him.

But I was wrong.

He rammed into my legs and tackled me to the ground.

Of course, Tobias was trying to seperate us, but Marcus knocked him out with a punch a while ago.

Marcus and I were currently wrestling eachother on the ground. I was also currently being overpowered by him. I was short and small and not so strong. Marcus, on the other hand, was big and tall and very strong.

So, I just let him take me over. I felt my while body go numb as I closed my eyes. He was kicking me, punching me, and even slapping me.

I just let myself slip into the darkness.
