Beatrice POV
He left today.
I knew he chose Dauntless. I could tell before he transferred that he was. The look in his eyes, his body structure, his voice...
Okay, you should stop.
Thanks for informing me.
You could name all the beautiful features he has, but you are never going to see him again.
I gathered that.
I sighed and finished eating breakfast, dismissing me from the table where my family sat.
"Something wrong, sweetie?" Mom asked.
"No. No, I'm fine." I smiled and sat on the couch, recounting my week. It sure has been crazy. But I think my favorite part of that week was when I was training with Tobias. And then it hit me. I got up and went downstairs, stepping on the concrete stairs.
I looked for something, anything I could use.
And then I saw one.
Wait, why is there a punching bag in my basement?
I walked over to it and looked over it. It looks like on that was in Tobias' basement.
Oh.
Thank you, Tobias.
I grabbed the heavy sand-filled bag and hang it up on the ceiling, on a hook that is somehow in the ceiling.
And then I start punching, kicking, hitting, everything to the bag. And I remembered the techniques Tobias taught me. He's probably doing the same thing right now. Training, I mean. He's probably going to be the first in his class. I guarantee it.
After a couple hours of practicing, my hands and feet were blistered, red, and skin-peeling.
I went upstairs and to my bedroom, not bothering to talk to anyone today. We had school off because of the Choosing Ceremony for the new initiates today.
I laid on my bed, sighing and wincing when I moved my hands. My knuckles were split open, but they weren't bleeding much. They were also pretty bruised
I just stared at the ceiling for hours on end, thinking. Just thinking about everything and anything I can think about.
I hear a knock on my door and slightly then my head.
"Come in." I said and the door opened. Caleb stalked in and sat at he edge of my bed.
"You alright?" He asked, concerned.
"Mhm." I answered, still looking at the ceiling.
"You sure?" He cocked his head to the side.
"Mhm." I repeated, now looking to him.
"You're acting a little weird." He raised his eyebrows.
"Caleb, your my brother. Would I lie to you?" I slightly smiled.
"It depends." He chuckled slightly.
"I'm fine, Caleb. Really. You don't have to worry about me."
"As your older brother, isn't it my job?" He smiled.
"Your not much older than me. We are basically the same age."
"You know what I mean."
"I guess."
"C'mon Beatrice. Let me clean up your hands." There's his Abnegation showing.
"Alright." I stood up and followed him into my bathroom.
"What did you do anyway?" He asked as he started running the water in the sink and grabbed a washcloth.
"Caleb, you can't tell anyone. Please. I won't tell yours."
"I promise." He looked at me and then started cleaning my knuckles. I tensed up at first and then relaxed.
"I was training." I said.
"Training?" He didn't look up but kept cleaning my hands.
"Physical training. Punching. Kicking. Fighting." I shrugged.
"That's intense." Caleb finished cleaning my hands and started putting medicine on them.
"I guess. But it's pretty blood-rushing. Gets you going. I think it's pretty great."
"I could never do that." He chuckled, "I think I'll stick to what I'm already doing."
"I get that." I smiled.
"Yeah." He smiled back at me after he wrapped my hands in gauze and made sure they stayed on.
"I'll see ya at dinner, Beatrice. I'm gonna go do what I've been doing..." He trailed off and pointed out the door. I laughed.
"Okay, Caleb." And he smiled and left.
Oh, Caleb. Quite the charmer.
My eyes were getting pretty droopy so I went to lay down in my bed. I was still thinking, with a smile on my face, before I fell asleep.
