Before Four [book one]

Ch.19

Tobias POV

"Eric! Wait up!" I yelled.

Eric stopped, not turning to look at me. We were alone in the Pit.

"What is it?" He sounded annoyed.

"You don't have to be mad at me just because now I'm in first and you're in second." Zeke had moved to third.

"I can be any emotion I want." I stood in front of him.

"C'mon, can't we be friends?" I was sounding pathetic, but I really didn't want any trouble with people.

"I don't need friends." And he walked away.

So much for trying.

I sigh and walk the opposite way, back to my room. Or I shouldn't really say my room. Whatever.

It's about nine o'clock at night and we just finished our last fear simulation until the big one tomorrow.

When I get back, no one is really awake except for Zeke.

"Something happen?" He asks me and sits up on his elbow.

"No. Nothing." I shrugged and changed into something to sleep in.

"C'mon, Four." He begged.

"Eric." I mumbled and climbed into my bed.

"Ah."

"Yeah."

"Well, night."

"Night."

And darkness was took over.
