Chapter 5

So today is the day we go back to the adoption center to see Auggie and Ocean again and maybe another meeting.

Me and Bradley walk in and it is a different lady at the desk this time.

"Hi. I'm Bradley and this is Sabrina. We have like a appointment to meet with Auggie and Ocean" He says.

The lady looks at a schedule thing and says "Yes you are right here. Come with me" She says and leads us into the same room we were in last time.

Inside the room it was just Mr. Williams sitting at the table. Once he sees us he stands up and the new lady at the front desk leaves.

"Hi Bradley and Sabrina" He says and shakes our hands.

"Hi" Me and Bradley say

All 3 of us sit at the table.

"Mary said she is sorry she couldn't be here today. She's at home sick" Mr. Williams says. Mary must be the normal lady at the front desks name.

"It's ok. Tell her to feel better" Bradley says.

"I will. Let's get started" He says.

"Where is Auggie and Ocean?" I ask.

"They are in their room. You will see them later" He says.

"Ok" I say.

"So you two are 100% committed on adopting them?" Mr. Williams asks.

"Yes we are" I say.

"Ok. So today we just need you to sign something. It's just a sheet that says you are currently in the adoption process and if anyone else wants to adopt Auggie and Ocean they can't unless you two back out or don't pass the requirements. This way, you two saw them first so you two get the chance to adopt them before anyone else" He explains.

"Ok" Bradley says. Mr. Williams gives us the paper and I sign first then Bradley does and then he hands the paper back to him.

"Thank you" Mr. Williams says. "So do you have any questions about anything before we really get started?" He asks.

"I do" Bradley says. "We did a little bit of research on adoption and it said you have to be married, engaged, or divorced to adopt a child. Is that true?" Bradley asks.

"Yes it is true" Mr. Williams starts. I felt my heart break a little. "But not in the state of California. I'm California you can be married, single, dating or engaged to adopt a child as long as you are over 18 and 10 years older then the child you are adopting. So don't worry you two are fine" He says. That makes me feel so much better.

"Ok. Thank you" Bradley says.

"So we already did the background check on you and you two both passed, it was pretty easy since you two are famous. We normally don't do it this early in the adoption process but we can tell that Auggie and Ocean really want to live with you" He says.

"Thank you" I say.

"Ok. So here's like the main part of the day, normally during the second or third meeting the couple looking to adopt gets to bring the child or children out for the day. You can bring them where ever you want except your house. That's the only rule" Mr. Williams says.

"Ok. That's pretty easy" I say. I'm really excited to get to spend time with them outside of the adoption center.

"Ok. So they are both ready and waiting in their room so Sabrina you can go get them and Bradley we can go get their car seats and put them in your car" Mr. Williams says.
