Today we are going back to the adoption center for our next meeting. It has been 2 weeks since our last one and I am very excited on what is going to happen today.
Me and Bradley arrive there and go in and Mary (the usual lady at the front desk) was there today. She invites us to the back room and Mr. Williams was back there alone.
"Hi guys. Welcome back" He says with a big smile on his face. That gave me another good feeling because normally if something bad is coming they are a little less nice and seem very nervous and most likely won't look at you.
"Thank you" Bradley says.
"Ok. So we just have 2 things for you today" He starts and me and Bradley sit there and listen. "So first we just have to make a date and time for the house visit which we can do later and we have a few papers to give to you" He says.
"Ok" I say and Mr. Williams pulls out 2 pieces of paper from Auggie and Ocean's folder.
"So before a kid or kids get adopted we always have them write down a few things that they like about the couple or person looking to adopt. So obviously Ocean can't write yet so we just write down word for word what he says. We ask him a few questions to make it longer. If we don't it will probably only have 6 words." Mr. Williams says and gives each of us one piece of paper.
I got Auggie's so that means Bradley got Ocean's. Auggie surprisingly had really good handwriting for a 7 year old. And I think it made it a little more personal.
Here's what the letter said:
"I really like Bradley and Sabrina because they are really nice and fun. And I like that they are really young and like to run around and play with us. My favorite part of the day with them was when we go ice cream because I love ice cream. It's my favorite food. My other favorite part was watching Sabrina push Ocean on the swings. And I liked when Bradley was playing on the playground with me. He is really silly sometimes. I really like them the best out of everyone that has tried to adopt us. I really hope they can adopt us soon"
That was probably ones of the cutest things I have ever read. I almost started crying.
Bradley was finished with Ocean's a lot sooner then I was finished with Auggie's. I guess Ocean didn't say as much. Me and Bradley traded letters and I started to read Ocean's:
"I like Bradley and Sabrina. They were fun to play with. Sabrina did a really good job at pushing me on swings and Bradley did a really good job on picking places to go. I think Bradley likes baseball because is saw a bat and a glove in his car which is good because me and Auggie love baseball. It would be really fun if they got us because then Sabrina can push me on swings everyday and me, Bradley and Auggie can play baseball"
Ocean's letter was adorable. I think Auggie's was a little sweeter though because he wrote it but I'm not going to like hold it against Ocean because he is only 3.
Once Mr. Williams noticed we were done he said "How did you guys like the letters?"
"I loved them" I say.
"They were cute" Bradley says
"Ok. So all we have to do now is plan a day for the home check" He says.
"How about Monday at 4?" I ask and he looks on his schedule.
"Yeah. That is perfect" He says.
"Ok. What comes after that in the adoption process?" Bradley asks
"Well after the home check you come back in two weeks and meet with Auggie and Ocean one more time than that day you get to bring them back to your house, with either me or Mary. Then after that you come back in two weeks and Auggie and Ocean will officially decide if they really want you to be your parents or not. Then that day you sign the adoption papers and custody papers but you can't take them home that day for 3 reasons. First is because it takes about a week for the papers to get finalized and second because we like to give the parents 2 weeks of like final preparations for the kids to come and 3rd because Auggie and Ocean will need to pack up all there stuff here. Then 2 weeks later you can come here and pick them up and you are good to go" Mr. Williams says.
"So we are looking at another month and a half?" Bradley asks.
"Yeah I would say about a month and a half to two months. It all depends." Mr. Williams says.
"Ok. Perfect" I say. That is actually so soon. I am getting more and more excited by the day. I seriously can't wait! Every time we come here I can feel more and more puzzle pieces falling. Right now I would say the puzzle is half complete.
"Ok. I'll see you in 2 weeks" Mr. Williams says and we all walk out of the office.
We go outside and Bradley asks me "How excited are you?"
"I can't even explain. On a scale from 1 - 10 I'm at like a 100" I say.
He smiles and says "Good. I knew you would be"
