Before you knew it, the sound of Jingle Bell Rock rang through the house obnoxiously loud and thus signalled the start of your annual Christmas party. You slipped your boots back on as soon as you made it back inside, slipping off your hoodie and cringing at the feeling of cold again before closing your window and hoping the warmth from the rest of the house would reach your room if you left the door open. You messed with your hair for a moment, shoving a bit of it under your Santa hat and pushing a few loose strands back behind your ears.

Winter raced out of the room, you following behind and trying as hard as you could not to trip and fall down the stairs. Jane cheered as she noticed you walking down the stairs, making you laugh and almost loose your balance.

Thankfully, you made it down the stairs and straight into the kitchen. The smell of Christmas food distracted you from the pass the parcel game going on around the Christmas tree. All the little kids sitting around passing the parcel and bouncing in their seats hoping it's them who gets to open them by passing the parcel as slowly as possible. Jane made her way to the ridiculous decorated chair that was supposed to be Santa's chair, popping her head over the counter to see what was going on.

Your mother was working extremely hard at making gingerbread men, carefully icing on detailed eyes. You almost got a scare looking at the detail on them.

"Wow mom," you peeked over her shoulder, "amazing art, but people are going to feel bad for eating them they look so much like people!"

Your mother laughed and shooed you away. You quickly stole the gingerbread man she had just finished working on much to her dismay as you giggled and walked away to find a quiet corner. The kitchen had only a few people in it but the living room was crowded and being in that room stressed you out, so you sank down beside Jane who'd moved her chair into the hallway, hoping to greet everyone who came through the door.

"Hey," you sighed as Jane passed you a mug of hot egg nog, "thank you."

"Is the party too much for you already?" She asked, watching as you pulled your phone out and typed in your password after the touch ID rejected you a few times, the gloves on your fingers refusing to cooperate.

 "Yeah, too crowded."

"I agree, we're going to have to get pictures later though."

"Yeah, you excited to have a bunch of kids sit in your lap?" You smirked, pressing your finger down on your screen and opening up the Pesterchum app. You bit down on your bottom lip. You'd been trying so hard for the past night and morning not to text him or talk to him, doing a Kankri detox so you could get him off of your brain, so you could get his face with messy hair covering his eyes in his sleep out of your brain, but here you were instinctively pressing down on the app and not regretting it when you opened the chat to see messages from him.

"Nothing I'm not used to," she laughed and sipped her own eggnog, fake white beard getting in the way. She spat a few times before sighing, looking to her left and to her right, noticing no one was there she tugged the stupid thing off and took a sip. "I'm more excited to try to sound like an old man. Ho, ho ho."

You laughed at her attempt. She coughed afterwards, the change in tone making her voice slightly scratchy. "I'll practice it for a bit, just ignore me."

You smiled to yourself, looking up at Jane who had moved her beard back onto her face again now and then back down at your phone. You were pestering Kankri, who was currently balancing both watching over Mituna who had decided to make 'gingerbread trolls' after you had explained what gingerbread men were to Kankri. That was after Kankri questioned you for hours about why it's just gingerbread men and not gingerbread women. That's why Mituna had made it his personal goal to make gingerbread everyone. That means gingerbread troll girls, guys and everything in between.
