no this isn't about them saying bye to each other, that would be sad, this is about Mipha and some background info okay
maybe this'll even be a series of one shots that all connect into one big story, who knows
--------------------------------------------Link wasn't able to sleep, so he had wandered out of his bed and outside to see if fresh air would help. Zelda and Link had sat down, and Zelda said he was able to retire basically if he wanted to. Link had said no, that he wanted to stay her chosen knight and she forced him to take a few days off every week. He, in turn, forced Zelda to take a few days off a month, if her schedule allowed it.
Link had decided to go to Zoras Domain. He could see Prince Sidon standing in front of Mipha's statue, not looking at it and looking at the entrance to Zoras Domain instead. Like something was gonna walk through it. He walked over, becoming concerned when Sidon didn't even look over at him. Link could see his eyes were glassy.
"Sidon?" Link quietly asked, gently touching Sidon's arm. Sidon jumped, wiping his eyes and looking down at Link, smiling. It looked more like a grimace.
"Hello, Link. Why are you out so late?"
"I couldn't sleep.. What're you doing out here?" Link asked, looking at the entrance to the Domain. Sidon didn't respond for a minute, making Link look back over at him.
"I'm.. waiting for my sister, I suppose." Sidon said, slowly. Link could feel his heart break, since they both knew she wasn't going to walk through the entrance of the Domain like she used to 100 years ago.
"Ill wait with you, then.." If Sidon was surprised, he didn't let it on. They fell into a comfortable silence. Link wondered how many nights Sidon had spent out here, in front of Mipha's Statue. Alone, with no one. Link looked up at Sidon, taking in his appearance. He could see the dark bags under Sidon's eyes. It was strange to see Sidon like this, usually encouraging and cheerful.
Link looked away, looking back out somewhere else other than the entrance of Zoras Domain.
"How much of her do you remember?" Sidon asked, quietly.
"I remember her healing me.. Then scolding me for getting hurt, multiple times. I can remember all three of us, playing games out here.." Link had started getting his memories back after defeating the Calamity. It was a slow process, though. He could finally remember his parents.
Sidon didn't say anything in response, instead kneeling down. Even kneeling, Sidon is still taller than Link. Sidon set his knees down in the water that covered the Domain, not meeting Links eyes for a moment. When he finally looked up, Sidons eyes were tearful.
"I.. I was so caught up in the idea she'd be alive after the Calamity was gone that I never properly mourned her.." Sidon paused, pulling in a shaky breath. "When you came back from Ruta without her, I thought that maybe once the Calamity was gone, she'd be back."
Link felt his own eyes water a little, biting his lip. He had cried over all the champions, with their descendants. In Miphas case, her brother. Link never once thought Sidon might have needed the same as he, since Sidon had acted like he was perfectly fine. Link held out his arms to Sidon.
Sidon stared for a moment, quickly hugging Link when he realized what he was suggesting. He put his face against Links chest. He could feel his shirt becoming wet. Link put his arms around his head, putting his cheek against Sidons crest. It was almost like Sidon was a child again.
Link had mourned Mipha, and it was time Sidon could too.
