role reversal

the role reversal is only with link and zelda, link being the prince and zelda being the hero, and the champions being nobles or children of nobles

Link was having a good time, generally, at this ball his dad was having for some reason. Then he saw the suitors, who he really didn't want to talk to. He had no interest in getting married at 18, but apparently his father thought he could force him. The fact that they were old childhood friends also pissed him off. There were a few older suitors he couldn't recognize, a tall Gerudo woman with red hair and a tall Hylian man with yellow-ish skin. Link was pretty sure the Gerudo woman was Urbosa, the chief of the Gerudo. He couldn't tell who the other man was. The other two, Mipha and Revali, he could recognize.

He didn't understand why Revali was there, they both hated each other and still do. Revali had blue hair that was tied back into multiple braids, white on the front. He had red lines under his eyes, that were green, and he was kinda pale. Mipha was tan, with long red hair tied in the back. She was still really short. Revali caught Links eyes, waving at him. Link just waved back at Revali. He tried not to show how pissed he actually was, turning his back to them.

He just walked over to Zelda, his guard. She managed to pull the sacred sword, which surprised everyone but they went with it. Zelda tilted her head slightly, looking concerned. Link forced a smile, it probably looked like a grimace, hugging her. She hugged him back after a moment. Link and Zelda had a rocky start, with Link always yelling at her but he had warmed up after a while, and she also saved him so.

"What's wrong?" She asked, quietly, against Links ear.

"My father took it upon himself to get me a bunch of suitors." He whispered, hearing Zelda hum a little and pull back from the hug. Link stepped back, not to far away.

"Do you want me to scare them off?" Zelda asked, jokingly, smiling.

"I wish you could.." Link mumbled, but smiled at Zelda. She smiled back. Zelda was always near, usually behind him or next to him. Link felt a hand on his shoulder, slowly turning to face whoever put their hand on his shoulder. He looked up, seeing it was his dad.

"Link, there are some nice suitors here for you." He said, pushing Link towards them and motioning for Zelda to follow. He felt his fathers other hand on his back, walking towards the suitors and screaming internally.

When Link managed to get away from his overbearing father and the suitors, he had gone out to a balcony. He sent Zelda away, but he was sure she was still standing on the other side of the door and waiting for him to come back in. Link was right about Urbosa, and he learned the tall Hylian mans name was Daruk. He could probably crush Link by accidentally hugging him to tightly. Link leaned against the railing of the balcony, cradling his face in his hands.

They were all nice, he wasn't going to deny that, but he just didn't want to get married yet. His father had been pushing him to choose Mipha or Urbosa, for an heir. Link was pretty sure Daruk would accidentally crush him and he had no interest in choosing Revali.

He slowly sank down, kneeling and putting his forehead against the railing. He didn't care that his pants and the cape thing was touching the ground. Link heard the door open, assuming it was Zelda and just staying there.

"Your Majesty?" He heard, not recognizing the voice. Link turned to face the man, to tell him to leave, words getting suck in his throat when he saw the man. He was at least as tall as Daruk was, but not as muscly. He was wearing a red overcoat with a white shirt under, with red hair and yellow on the bottom part of it. The man had some sashes, and a bunch of silver bracelets. Link blinked at him multiple times, looking at the hand that was being offered to him.

He took the hand, being pulled up by the man by that and a hand on his elbow when he got close enough. He let go of Links elbow, bending down and kissing Links hand. Link felt his face flare, glad that it was dark enough the other man couldn't see it.

"I'm Sidon. I would ask your name but.. everyone knows it." The man, Sidon, said. Sidon grinned at Link, standing up straight again. "Would you like to dance?" Sidon hadn't really let go of Links hand, just holding his fingers though. He didn't touch the palm.

Link had, in reality, been dancing all night long and he was sort of getting tired of it. He slowly nodded, Sidon grinning again and putting his other hand on Links waist. He adjusted his hold on Links hand, putting their palms together and wrapping his fingers around the back of Links hand. Sidons hands were large, and his fingers almost covered the entire back of Links. Link put his hand on Sidons shoulder, holding his hand with his other.

"Why'd you come out here? You looked upset when you did.." Sidon asked, gently swaying with Link and the music they could hear from the inside.

"My father got a bunch of suitors.." He responded, hearing Sidon hum.

"My sister is one of them, you know." Well, Urbosa certainly didn't have any brothers, and that just left Mipha. Link could see the relation, once he thought about it.

"You're Miphas brother?"

"Yes. Our father jumped right on it when yours asked for one of us to be a suitor." Sidon said, looking down at Link. Link just hummed in response. This was nicer than passive aggressively dancing with Revali, or having Daruk basically lift him to dance with him, for some reason. Mipha and Urbosa were supposed to be after Daruk, but Link quickly ran off and here he was now.

The song ended, and they both stopped. They just separated hesitantly, Sidon kissing Links cheek gently and leaving.

"I'll see you around." He said, leaving Link blushing again. He just waved bye at him. Link stayed out there for a moment, just to compose himself and walked back down. Zelda rose one of her eyebrows, smirking but she didn't say anything.
