CHAPTER SIX
On the forensics platform stood Kevin, Max, Tony and Scott. Tensions were high between Tony and Kevin after their conversation earlier. Max was trying to ease said tension.
"I'the done every tetht I can think of on this thword."
Tony raised a hand. "May I say something?"
"The only thing I'm willing to hear from you right now, Mister Black, is 'I hereby tender my resignation.'" Kevin retorted.
Scott shook his head. "Practically speaking, this sword is not worth enough to kill for."
Tony ignored Kevin. "If anything is worth killing for, then everything is worth killing for."
Max raised a finger. "It'th worth tho much becauthe it appeared in the movie."
Scott shook his head again. "That's conveyed value. Intrinsically it can't be worth more than a few hundred dollars."
Kevin tilted his head at Scott. "You mean if it really was a sword from 100 AD, you'd understand killing for it?"
"Yes, I would. I'd like very much to examine a sword like that. But, on a more productive note, what about the marks on this sword?"
Max went to the screen. "Metal. You thtruck metal."
"You said he was a knight." Kevin added.
Tony nodded. "Chain mail. I'm thinking chain mail."
Scott looked at the floor for a moment. "Huh..."
"What?"
"The knight who attacked me was authentic in his moves. He used two attack manoeuvres: the serpent and the arrowhead."
"Couldda learned it from the movies."
"Movies never show combatants holding the sword correctly, which is one hand on the handle and the other on the blade. Our assailant's form was historically accurate."
Max raised an eyebrow. "Tho, uh, you believe you were attackthed by an actual Arthurian Knighth?"
"No. Time travel is scientifically impossible. But I was attacked by someone well-trained in archaic martial arts, wearing chain mail... Max? We're going to need to use your metal detector again." He started to walk off.
"Thure."
"Max? I think he means that you should go with him."
"Oh, yeah, right, hey, field tripth!"
***********************************************************************************************
The two went to the highway where he and Malo had been driven off.
"What's that?"
"Part of Malo'th car. Think he wantsth it back?"
"I'll ask."
"Tho what am I looking for exactly? Maybe the Black Knighth droppedth his metal walleth?"
