I looked over at Josh as the song played and smiled, he looked back at me with a small smile and started humming along.

"George taught me how to play this on guitar" he said suddenly, with a big grin on his face.

I looked over and widened my eyes, "you are playing guitar now?" I asked.

"Well, I've only just started. I wanted to learn this song so I could play it for you sometime" he smiled, his cheeks reddening a little as he spoke.

I couldn't think of any words to say in response so I reached over and took his hand in mine, squeezing it tightly and then letting it drop. We are just friends, I reminded myself.

I turned onto the motorway and put my foot on the accelerator, my poor car struggling to pick up speed to match the other cars.

"Is your car ok?" George asked, the concern in his voice making me giggle.

"It's fine, it always makes this sound when it accelerates so quickly" I assured him, finally relaxing as I pulled behind a truck in the left lane.

"Oh right, yeh, I knew that" George giggled, letting out a breath of relief after he spoke.

We all laughed and Josh got out the map I had put under the front seat.

"Ok, so the New Forest is just over 2 hours away" he stated, opening up the map to the right page and scanning it to check the route I had highlighted for us to follow.

"Yeh, It's going to be a pretty long drive. But I was going to stop off at the service stations halfway down to have a break and get some lunch" I replied, turning to look at everyone quickly as I spoke.

"Sounds like a good idea, I am starving already" Lucy giggled from the back seat.

"Oh I love this song! Turn it up, Josh" George called from the back suddenly.

Cold Coffee by Ed Sheeran had just started playing and Josh turned it up loud, letting us all sing along to the music drifting through the speakers and filling the car.

We sang along to loads of songs and before I knew it, Josh was telling me to pull into the next service station so we could have lunch. I signalled off the motorway and slowed the car down as we drove into the car park. The signs showed us that there was a McDonald's here so we all decided to go in there for lunch, I pulled up quickly in a spot nearest to the entrance and we all jumped out, stretching from being sat down for so long.

George put his arm around Lucy and they strolled inside, leaving me and Josh to follow behind them. I looked over at him with a small smile and he looked down at my hand and took it in his hesitantly, swinging our arms as we walked up the steps and into the service's entrance.

We walked inside to the warm building and looked over to see George and Lucy already standing at the counter for McDonald's, ordering their food.

"She wasn't joking when she said she was starving" I giggled as we walked over to meet them.

"They are so impatient" Josh laughed, "what are you going to get?" he asked me.

"A cheeseburger meal of course" I giggled, seeing him roll his eyes at me and laugh.

"How did I know you would say that" he giggled.

"You shouldn't have asked then" I replied, winking at him as he looked at me with a grin on his face.

"Ok then, what am I going to get?" he questioned me playfully, squeezing my hand as he did so.

"That's easy, you are going to order a big Mac meal, but with no gurkins" I told him confidently and he nodded his head and wrapped his arm over my shoulder, still keeping hold of my hand as he did so.
