The next weeks consisted of setting ground rules and things, Azure had already picked up on some of Terry's habits. Like leaving lights on in rooms he wasn't in, or not shutting the fridge all the way.
Of course Azure didn't mind at all, but corrected the other when he could. Terry was polite, despite his seemingly rude facade. Azure felt himself slowly falling for the other on a deeper level, as days passed the witch grew more fond of the dark prince who was much more of a goofball behind closed doors.
Azure knew he would have to start trying to find Terry's soulmate, he just...didn't want to find the soulmate. The witch sighed to himself as he laid on his bed, in the middle of the night. Merci laid against his side and purred heavily, Azure looked at the cat and stroked her head as he stared up at his ceiling. His eyes watched the tracing vines and roots as he breathed slowly.
He could hear shuffling in the other room, it was most likely that Terry couldn't sleep either. Azure was tempted to get up and go see him but decided against it. Instead he laid there for longer and huffed quietly.
He could hear the clock ticking by, it started to bother him. He could feel an itch creeping up in his hands and legs, it tingled and prickled in all the wrong ways. Azure groaned and sat up suddenly, he could feel unused magic stirring around. He felt restless suddenly, the witch climbed out of bed and started to pace around his room, the walls felt close together. Everything was closing in, he needed to breathe.
The witch walked out of his room and speed walked towards the door of his house. He sighed as cool air hit his face and calmed the magic in his bones.
Azure closed his eyes and let the air surround him and calm him, he stood like that for a bit before he heard a voice.
"A bit cold out to be here without a blanket." The voice said and Azure felt the softness of a heavy blanket rest on his shoulders.
He turned around to see Terry who looked just as awake as he did. The prince's hair was messed up and sticking up in places, he looked happy though.
Azure just nodded and smiled a little, "Thank you." He said lowly and Terry just nodded and turned to where the witch was looking.
Their gazes met on the marble castle in the distance, the stars twinkled above it as moonlight flittered on the dewey grass. A cool air blew the trees and made them whisper their quiet forest song. Azure smiled softly and hummed slightly to the song of the leave's night hushing. The witch pulled the blanket around him tighter and closed his eyes again and let out a heavy sigh.
"Beautiful night." Terry commented and folded his arms across his chest.
"It is." Azure said gently.
"Why were you up?" Terry asked and seemed to step closer to Azure.
"I couldn't sleep, why were you up?" Azure answered and then bounced the question back.
"Ditto." Terry mumbled and looked up at the stars.
Both of them were silent for a bit more before Terry spoke up again, "I've noticed something about you. If it's not to personal, may I ask why I find you asleep in the weirdest of places...?" The prince asked and looked at Azure who froze up a little.
"U-uhm.." the witch said and looked away, his chest shuddered with a heaving breath he took.
"Is it just because you're tired?" Terry questioned again and stared at Azure.
"I guess you could say that..." Azure said and turned away slightly but Terry followed him.
"You guess? Azure you have to tell me what's going on if this relation-" Terry stopped and scoffed a little, "this arrangement won't work." The hybrid pried.
Azure looked back at the other, "It's nothing." He said and tried to move away again to escape the questions.
"Azure! Tell me! I want to know! I want to know you!" The prince said and moved to stare at Azure again.
Azure suddenly whipped around with tears in his eyes, "I have narcolepsy okay?! Is that what you wanted?! For me to tell you this-this thing that's wrong with me?! For me to tell you something that I hate about myself ?!" The witch said and his chest started to heave with panicked breaths. Tears welled more in his eyes as he whimpered softly, "I-I'm sorry I yelled..." he said and wiped the cold tears the dripped down his cheeks, "I'll leave you be now." Azure mumbled and turned away.
He was about to head into the house when he felt a warm hand grab his wrist, Azure turned and looked back at Terry who looked upset. He was worried that he had offended the other, but found himself being pulled into the other's chest. Azure blushed wildly as the prince hugged him gently, the other was warm. It was a stark difference from the usual cold of his body.
"I'm sorry." Terry said gently and Azure looked up at him. He felt a surge of tears fill his eyes and pool over.
The witch sobbed loudly, and suddenly into Terry's chest. The prince just held the other tighter and hushed him quietly, "Let it all out." The hybrid encouraged and it brought on another strong sob from Azure.
"I-it's j-just so hard!" The blue witch cried and Terry just nodded.
"It must be." Said prince mumbled to the other.
"I-I'm sorry.." Azure sobbed and wiped his tears away with his hand.
"You don't need to be." Terry hummed and patted the other's back.
Soon the sobs bubbled down into soft whimpers, after that the witch had gone silent. Terry pulled away just to find the other asleep. He sighed and easily lifted the shorter one of the two up into his arms. Terry pushed open the door with his back and he stumbled in. He used his foot to shut the door behind him. After that, he located Azure's room and was greeted by Merci who meowed hoarsely at him. Terry hushed the cat and laid Azure on the bed gently. The prince then proceeded, with the help of Merci, to pull up the covers and tuck the witch in. He said on the edge of the bed listening to Merci purr comfortingly. He knew it was nosey but he wanted to see the room, so the prince lit a candle and walked around the room quietly.
He ran his fingers along the old, dusty book spines. He looked at the old oak desk in the corner near the window, he looked in the cabinet of ingredients that Azure had for quick potions. Terry hummed to himself as he found a coffee pot in the corner, he sighed a little and then walked back to Azure's bed and looked out the other window that was right next to it.
He stared out at the small self kept garden in the backyard, tomatoes and other things grew without a care. Some time passed and Terry decided it was time to go back to his room and stop snooping around. Just as he was about to leave, he felt a tug on his pants and looked down to see a hand gripping it. The hand belonged to Azure, who was surprisingly still asleep. Terry blushed heavily and tried to pry the other's hand away but when he succeeded, the witch's hand grabbed his own. Terry's face was probably a bright red right now, he let out a small and very unprincely squeak.
Terry found himself stuck there, the hybrid considered his options but eventually just slowly climbed in bed next to the other.
He climbed under the covers and kept a good distance between the two of them. Though a very unconscious Azure closed that distance and snuggled against the prince's side. Terry would have moved away like any other normal person, but he didn't. Instead he just face palmed but found he didn't mind it at all.
Not one bit, so the prince put an arm around the witch and closed his eyes.
And finally, he fell asleep.
