Chapter 16

"Okay," ink said, after hearing my request to hold Ryan's interrogation. "You sure?"

"Positive," I smiled at the thought of Ryan's face when he saw it was me going to be dealing with him. "Now, please untie me. I'm not going to run away. And can I have a better room?" I suggested the open room around us.

"Oh, yea sorry," ink said, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Don't be sorry," I stated. "Just please get me out of here."

"I'll be back in a minute to get your room ready," he told me, then left.

I don't want to believe what Fintan said. It couldn't be true. Ryan told me he loved me. Aren't you supposed to mean it when you say it to someone? I know that I still love Ryan. I know what he did was wrong. He told me it was meant to be, then he left me. Well, I left him. But in a way, he left my heart. If he ever actually loved me, that is. I looked around the room for anything else to think about. Then I saw the writing in the wall. It had scratched up marks that said: help me and they're out to get me. It was really sad, now that I thought about it. There was a list of names that looked like they had been scratched into the wall.

Mills

Parker

James

Chimala

I knew that Parker was my last name, James was Ryan's last name, and well, the last one...

Chimala. Was she really dead? She couldn't be, could she? They lied to me. If they didn't, I don't think I'll be able to look in the mirror ever again. Chimala looked too much like me. How can I deal with all of this pressure?

But most importantly, who was Mills?

"Chayna," ink's voice brought me back to reality.

"Yes?" I asked him, trying to be causal.

"Your room is ready."

"Coming," I answered, and got up following ink.

We came to a room very similar to my previous one. The only difference was that there was a bed, a sink, and a window. The bed was like, lopsided. A default bed, great! But, it's okay. It's all I have right now. Not even Ryan. Not even Chimala. Not mom or dad. Not even...Well, Fintan doesn't count.

"This is....interesting, ink," was all that I could say.

"It's really the nicest thing we have."

"Oh, well thanks for letting me stay here," I whispered, unknowingly.

"Are yo-" Ring. Ring. Ring.

ink pulled the phone out of his pocket and tapped the flashing screen.

"It's Ryan, Chayna." Okay, you can do this.

"Give me the phone."

"Okay?" Ink questioned me.

"Ryan?" I said as I tried to focus on what I was doing.

"Chayna?" Ryan asked as if I hadn't just said his name.

"What do you want?" I growled into the phone.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm splendid. Why did you call?"

"Lauren is missing."

What? "Ryan, how do you know?" I asked, holding back tears. Lauren was like a sister to me. Where is she when I need her? Oh. Kidnapped.
