James Potter liked Lily Evans a lot

James Potter liked Lily Evans a lot. Once could say it was love at first sight, but James would insist that he started to like her after he heard the brilliance in the way she spoke. Either way, Lily was the key to James heart.

Unfortunately, the feeling wasn't mutual. Lily Evans did not like James, not at all. She thought his arrogance and obnoxiousness was too annoying to handle, and that she would rather date the Giant Squid than James. She would turn him down in the cruellest ways until it was nothing more than a sad James left.

One day, after James was turned down by Lily once again, and returns to the dorms sadly, Remus decides to put his foot down. James had helped him so much with his furry problem, that Remus couldn't see his friend sad any longer, Sirius and Peter agreeing. That's why Remus threw some parchment paper at James and told him that he should write to Lily instead of talking to her. Maybe that way, he wouldn't get turned down so badly. But boy was he wrong.

The plan was to go 12 weeks without saying one word to the redhead muggleborn, but rather writing a letter each week about the things he liked about her. Each week he would come up with another flower to compare Lily to, but of course it was hard for him, because he thought Lily was the most beautiful flower of them all.

Remus, being the only Marauder Lily could stand, got the job of delivering these letters to Lily each week. One thing James didn't know, was that his friends would read the letter that Remus was supposed to deliver, and write comments on every paragraph. Remus and Sirius would answer each other's questions with low-key flirting, only in later letters with it becoming high key.

And when Lily got her first letter from James, she was uninterested. But when she read further down the letter, and Remus and Sirius' comments would mix with James' boring love notes, she found the letters highly entertaining. And started to think that maybe the Marauders weren't so bad after all, and to say that James' words had no effect on her, would be a lie.
